Economic development of ethnic minority areas in Dong Cuu

The inter-commune road between Kha Cuu and Dong Cuu has been invested in and expanded to meet the travel needs of the people.

Identifying ethnic work and ethnic policies as important tasks, Dong Cuu commune has effectively implemented programs, projects, and preferential policies of the State in ethnic minority areas. At the same time, it focuses on directing the synchronous and effective implementation of programs, policies, and projects, especially the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, period 2021-2025. In which, priority is given to solving the situation of residential land, housing, production land, and domestic water; supporting the development of production to diversify community livelihoods; investing in essential infrastructure to serve production and life in ethnic minority areas...

In the past 2 years, the commune has implemented many ethnic programs and policies and achieved many positive results. From the allocated capital of over 10 billion VND, the Commune People's Committee has built a 3-storey classroom building for the primary school, repaired 5 cultural houses in residential areas, paid forest protection costs for 13 households, reviewed proposals for land support for 35 households, housing for 21 households, job conversion for 13 households, and distributed domestic water support for 32 households; supported 1 production project implemented by the community (Stream duck farming project) with a capital of over 920 million VND, which has been implemented and achieved good results. In the first 10 months of 2024, the commune was allocated 292 million VND for forest protection and over 540 million VND for renovation and upgrading of essential infrastructure. Currently, the Commune People's Committee is completing the project documents for implementation.

From the National Target Program, the commune has built new classrooms for Dong Cuu Primary School.

In implementing projects and sub-projects, the commune is the investor in the component content. In 2023, the commune is the investor in 2 project works including a classroom building of Dong Cuu Primary School with a total value of nearly 8.5 billion VND, repairing 5 cultural houses in residential areas, repairing cultural houses in Can, Bu, Coc, Ha Thanh areas, each house costing nearly 63 million VND. Renovating a classroom in Cat hamlet into a cultural house with a total cost of nearly 130 million VND... Up to now, the works have been completed and put into use. Ethnic policies have been urgently implemented along with the selection of the right beneficiaries, the management and settlement of capital have been carried out in accordance with regulations.

In order to help poor and near-poor households stabilize their lives and escape poverty sustainably, the commune focuses on vocational training associated with job creation for rural workers in the direction of innovation and quality improvement, in line with social needs to improve their lives and increase their income. In addition, preferential credit support policies have also helped many poor and near-poor households overcome difficulties, stabilize their jobs and income.

Mr. Ha Van Duong's household in Bau hamlet is one of the households that has access to poor households' loans to develop a model of breeding cows. Mr. Duong shared: "In addition to his own efforts and determination, his family has also received attention, support, and all conditions for accessing capital to escape poverty and become rich legitimately from the local Party Committee and government...".

Chairman of Dong Cuu Commune People's Committee Ha Van Cach said: In order to effectively implement the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the commune has proactively and actively promoted the dissemination of the Program's objectives to all classes of people and ethnic minorities in order to change and transform awareness in ethnic affairs, ethnic policies, and poverty reduction in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. At the same time, change the structure of crops and livestock and orient people towards plants and breeds of economic value for cultivation and livestock. Promote the spirit of striving of ethnic minorities.

Visiting the model of households supported with cow breeding from the national target program, which has so far brought economic efficiency.

After 4 years of implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, 2021-2025 period, thanks to the attention and direction of the district, the efforts of the Party Committee, the local government and people, Dong Cuu commune has mobilized resources to invest in and develop rural infrastructure, develop the economy, culture - society , improve the material and spiritual life of the people. Thereby creating people's trust in the leadership of the Party, the management of the State, people are enthusiastic about working and producing.

From the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, Dong Cuu Commune seems to have a “new wind”, the appearance of the countryside here has been changed, the people’s lives have been gradually improved. Thereby contributing significantly to the successful implementation of the local socio-economic development goals.
