Brighten the economic picture

In the early days of 2026, the pace of work remained bustling on key construction projects, in factories, workshops, and specialized agricultural areas of the province. The relentless economic flow reflected a new year filled with efforts to overcome difficulties and aspirations for progress, with bright colors in the overall development picture.

Growth momentum stemming from decisive management.

2025 is the final year of the 2021-2025 five-year socio -economic development plan, and also the year the province will implement a particularly large volume of work following the merger and operation of the two-tiered local government model. In this context, the province's economy has maintained stable growth, with 19 out of 25 key indicators estimated to meet or exceed the plan. The growth rate of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is estimated at 8.01%, meeting the target set by the Government.

From leadership and management to production and business practices, the spirit of "accelerating and breaking through" is clearly evident. Industry and construction are gradually recovering, and several new projects coming into operation have contributed to increasing production capacity. Agriculture ensures adherence to seasonal schedules, proactively responds to natural disasters and epidemics, and maintains its role as a pillar of the economy. The trade, service, and tourism sectors continue to be vibrant, becoming a highlight in the growth structure. In 2025, the province is estimated to welcome 3.9 million visitors, with total tourist spending estimated at 10,523 billion VND, reaching 108% of the plan.

In late December 2025, the Vietnam-China International Trade Fair played a significant role in promoting economic growth and expanding development opportunities for local businesses. The fair created a favorable environment for domestic businesses, cooperatives, and traders to connect directly with international partners, especially those from Chinese localities, thereby increasing opportunities for product consumption and expanding export markets. In particular, several fairs held in early 2026 helped bring distinctive local products closer to consumers.

Comrade Tran Viet The, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: The fairs attract a large number of people to visit and shop. The display and promotion of agricultural products, OCOP products, rural industrial goods, and services have contributed to increasing the value of goods and promoting production linked to market demand. Many businesses have found partners, established new distribution channels, and created a foundation for sustainable cooperation in the fields of processing, logistics, and trade support services.

To boost the economy, the province has focused on decisively directing the disbursement of public investment capital. Working tirelessly throughout the New Year's holiday, key transportation infrastructure projects such as the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway and the Ho Chi Minh Highway section from Cho Chu to Trung Son Junction are being regularly monitored, creating a ripple effect for socio-economic development. Administrative reform, digital transformation, and improvements to the investment and business environment continue to be promoted, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted procedures for citizens and businesses during the transition period of the administrative apparatus.

Efforts to create momentum for a new phase.

On December 19, 2025, the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway's technical opening ceremony took place, marking a significant milestone in the development of transportation infrastructure in the northern midland and mountainous region. The route not only shortens travel time and reduces transportation costs but also opens up opportunities for socio-economic development, attracting investment, promoting tourism, and facilitating trade. The expressway will strengthen regional connectivity, leverage the potential and advantages of each locality, contribute to improving people's lives, and ensure national defense and security in the area.

Following the technical opening of the highway, the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway construction site remains bustling with activity. From early morning to late afternoon, and even through the night, the sounds of machinery and vehicles blend seamlessly with the hurried pace of thousands of engineers and workers diligently working on the project. Construction teams are working overtime continuously to complete various sections. The excitement is evident in the eyes of the workers after the technical opening, as everyone understands that the expressway not only extends existing roads but also opens up new development opportunities, carrying the hope of a breakthrough for the Tuyen Quang region in the years to come.

Mr. Do Ngoc Thuan, General Director of Phuong Dong Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, said: “For many days now, all our engineers and workers have been working with the utmost urgency and determination; mobilizing maximum manpower and machinery, organizing construction in ‘3 shifts, 4 teams,’ and working overtime even on holidays to complete the final items. After the technical opening ceremony, we will still maintain the progress to complete the items according to plan.”

2026 marks the first year of the 2026-2030 five-year socio-economic development plan. The province has set a growth target of over 10%, creating momentum for a faster and more sustainable development phase. The primary focus is on finalizing the revised provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, while simultaneously establishing new construction and land use plans at the commune level after mergers, ensuring a rational allocation of development space. Effective mobilization and integration of investment resources are crucial, prioritizing strategic transportation infrastructure, irrigation, and clean water supply for mountainous and disadvantaged areas.

Comrade Phan Huy Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, stated: The province has identified accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital as a key task, linking the responsibility of the head of each agency to the progress and effectiveness of projects; proactively removing difficulties in procedures and land clearance, and unlocking resources from the private sector, ODA, and NGOs. Administrative reform, building a digital government, and tightening discipline and order in public service continue to be considered "soft levers" to promote growth.

On the new journey into 2026, the achievements of 2025 will serve as a crucial foundation. From emerging projects and transforming production areas to a determined commitment to innovation in governance, the province's economic landscape is gradually emerging with brighter colors. This is not only the result of a year of effort but also a commitment to a period of strong development ahead.
