11 candidates received special support

Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training, said that the Department of Education and Training has asked officials and teachers to take the exam seriously but still maintain a gentle and friendly attitude, creating a comfortable atmosphere for candidates to do the test with the best results. "The official exam questions will be given according to the structure and format of the sample questions that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced at the beginning of the school year. The content of the exam questions is mainly based on the 9th grade program, ensuring that there are no "puzzles" and are not outside the program that students have learned in secondary school."

Schools and testing sites are also required to review cases of candidates with especially difficult circumstances or health problems to have support plans. Mr. Cuong said: “At some testing sites, we have arranged separate testing rooms, with doctors on duty and medical equipment to support candidates when necessary. For example, if a candidate broke his arm and could not take the test, the Examination Steering Committee allowed the school to send students with lower qualifications, who were 7th and 8th graders, to help copy the test for the candidate. All equipment related to the candidate's health brought into the testing room is inspected by the police force, both to ensure the students' rights to take the test and to comply with the examination regulations.”

Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that after the exam registration procedure on June 6, Hanoi had 201 exam locations; 4,411 non-professional exam rooms; 201 backup exam rooms; Number of staff, teachers, and employees present: 15,168/15,173, reaching a rate of 99.97%. (Absent exam invigilators were arranged with backup teachers to ensure compliance with exam regulations). Number of candidates present: 102,365/102,860, reaching a rate of 99.52% (495 candidates were absent because candidates could be determined to go to vocational training, private schools, etc.). A total of 11 candidates needed assistance with taking the exam due to health problems and needed medical support.

Tighten exam room discipline

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Tuan, Deputy Head of the Internal Political Security Department of Hanoi City Police, the police force will proactively deploy technical and professional measures to promptly detect and prevent the use of sophisticated devices. Examination sites will also tighten control over items brought into examination rooms, increase inspection and screening to neutralize cheating devices. Accordingly, the police force will be on duty 24/7 at locations where exam papers are printed, transported, and graded. The procedures for sealing and handing over exam papers and test papers are carried out under strict supervision, ensuring that no errors, leaks, or omissions occur. Surveillance cameras will also be installed at examination sites to increase transparency and strictness in the process of preserving and transporting exam papers and test papers.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Tuan shared that in order to recognize, detect, and prevent high-tech devices in the exam room, exam supervisors need to carefully check items such as watches, handheld calculators, glasses, etc. and understand the psychology of candidates, observe their behaviors and gestures. In the exam room, supervisors only need to carefully observe the attitudes and items of candidates such as the surface of watches, bracelets, glasses, etc. that do not have holes, even small ones, to be able to transmit to the outside... Pay attention to candidates with the intention of cheating, often with messy hair covering their ears, the tendency of candidates to tilt their heads to the left, eyes looking to adjust the watch, etc. or they may make noises, or feel itchy when the device is in their ears...

Before the exam day, Mr. Tran The Cuong emphasized the risk of exam cheating becoming increasingly sophisticated in the context of strong development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Mr. Cuong warned that with current AI technology, candidates only need to enter the question to get the answer in seconds.

Cheating on exams comes in many forms, from secretly using phones in the exam room to taking advantage of toilet breaks to access the internet. To deal with this situation, Mr. Cuong requested that the test site manager thoroughly educate candidates that they are not allowed to bring phones into the exam room.

Tomorrow morning - June 8, candidates will take the final exam in Math, lasting 120 minutes.
