Construction site stuck with land and houses of 30 households
In June 2022, the high-tech treatment center of Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) with 2 basements and 10 floors was started construction.
This is expected to be the material basis for the formation and development of a center for organ transplantation, surgery and intensive pediatric emergency resuscitation for the southern provinces/cities.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has 3 specialized pediatric hospitals: Children's Hospital 1, Children's Hospital 2 and Children's Hospital City; the health sector has a strategy to develop these 3 hospitals. Particularly, Children's Hospital 2 has been assigned the task of forming the leading pediatric organ transplant center in Vietnam.
Up to now, according to a recent report from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the project to build a high-tech treatment center for Children's Hospital 2 is still facing difficulties due to problems related to the construction site.
Specifically, the construction site is stuck with the land and houses of 30 households, affecting the project's construction progress.
Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has proposed the Department of Construction to advise and submit to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval of the hospital's plan to adjust the design of the underground water tank and fire pump house to another location so as not to interfere with the land and houses of local residents during the construction process.
In addition, the Department of Health also recommended that the compensation and site clearance board of District 1 (old) must soon hand over the construction site at the location of the 30 households mentioned above.

Conclusion of Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong and Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy after a recent meeting related to the current state of facilities, planning, development orientation of the industry and medical investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City, which mentioned the High-tech Treatment Center project of Children's Hospital 2.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to urgently complete the pre-feasibility study report to adjust the project to build a high-tech treatment center of Children's Hospital 2, and submit it to the People's Committee before November 25.
In addition, the City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to urgently review and resolve the Department of Health's request to adjust the design plan for the location of the underground water tank and fire pump house located within the hospital's premises that are currently facing the clearance of households, according to its authority and regulations, and to submit it to the People's Committee before November 25.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment was assigned to direct and urge the compensation and site clearance board of District 1 to urgently complete the relocation of the remaining households residing in the premises of Children's Hospital 2 at 14 Ly Tu Trong Street (Sai Gon Ward) and hand over the site according to authority and regulations; report to the City People's Committee on the implementation results before November 25.
Children's Hospital 2 is a grade 1 pediatric hospital, under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health. It is one of the top 4 pediatric hospitals in the country, responsible for examining and treating children from 0 to under 16 years old.
Since 2004, the hospital has been performing kidney and liver transplants. In 2010, it launched an open heart surgery and interventional cardiology unit. The hospital is the only pediatric facility in the country that performs traumatic brain injury surgery and pediatric neurosurgery...
On June 18, 2022, the hospital started construction of a high-tech treatment center with a scale of nearly 35,000 square meters, 2 basements, 10 floors high, and a capacity of 350 beds.
This is the material basis for the formation and development of a center for organ transplantation, surgery and intensive pediatric emergency resuscitation for the southern provinces/cities.
