After the men's team, Malaysia's women's football team wants to naturalize players en masse.

(Dan Tri) - Not stopping at naturalizing the men's football team, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will conduct naturalization to improve the quality of the country's women's football team.

“There will be three naturalized players joining the Malaysian women’s team. We are in a position to expand our talent pool,” said FAM Women’s Football Committee Head Datuk Suraya Yaacob.

“Initially, these naturalized players will play for the Malaysian U20 women’s team, participating in the U20 Asian Women’s Championship qualifiers, taking place from August 6 to August 10. After being assessed in the U20 Asian qualifiers, the naturalized players will have the opportunity to play for the Malaysian national women’s team,” added Datuk Suraya Yaacob.

Recently, Malaysian football has been pursuing the same policy as Indonesian football. They have devoted their efforts to naturalizing foreign players, hoping that through these naturalized players, they can immediately improve the strength of the national team.

About a month ago, the Malaysian men's national football team, using a core of naturalized players of South American and European origin, defeated the Vietnamese team 4-0 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Currently, FAM continues to naturalize players, this time to add personnel to the Malaysian women's football team.

“We have received many applications for naturalization from players born in the US, Australia, England…” said FAM Women’s Football Department Head Datuk Suraya Yaacob.

“These players have seen the progress of the Malaysian men’s team, which has motivated them to do the same for the Malaysian women’s team. In turn, the careers of the naturalised players will improve after they wear the Malaysian national team jersey,” Datuk Suraya Yaacob affirmed.

If the Malaysian women's team has more naturalized players, they will be a new formidable opponent for the Vietnamese women's football team at the Southeast Asian tournament (taking place in August, in Vietnam) and the 33rd SEA Games (taking place in December, in Thailand).
