In the context of plastic pollution becoming a global challenge, educating the young generation on green living habits and awareness is increasingly considered the foundation of sustainable development. Towards that goal, the Foundation for Vietnamese Stature has launched the School Tour 2025 program - Green buds to school, bringing the topic of reducing plastic waste into the school environment through experiential learning.

Taking place at four schools in Hanoi, including Giang Bien Secondary School, Vietnam - Australia Hanoi Inter-level School, Gia Thuong Primary School and Xuan Dinh Primary School, the program attracted more than 5,500 primary and secondary school students to participate. School Tour 2025 is part of the Youth for the Environment project, initiated by the For Vietnamese Stature Fund with the support of BAC A BANK, Tetra Pak Vietnam, Duy Tan Recycled Plastic Company, Pacific Environment Organization Vietnam and Zero Waste Vietnam Alliance.

With the approach of "learning while playing, playing to live green", School Tour 2025 brings students experiential activities that help them approach environmental knowledge in an intuitive and vivid way. Instead of sitting and listening to lectures, students participate in games simulating real-life situations, where they sort trash themselves, learn about the reusability of familiar items, or think together about ways to reduce the amount of plastic waste in school.

Students learn about the environment through intuitive, lively, age-appropriate games.

From then on, concepts that were somewhat dry and abstract to the children such as "white pollution", "recycling" or "zero-waste lifestyle" became easier to understand and closer than ever. The children enthusiastically transformed into "environmental heroes" in the game "Rescue baby turtles", and competed with their friends in "Garbage classification", "Crocodile coming ashore" or "Recycling connection". From the cheerful laughter, the children gradually understood that protecting the environment is not something far away, but starts with throwing garbage in the right place, saving resources and reusing everyday objects.

"I understand that protecting the environment is not just a matter for adults, but also something we students can do. I will start with small things like picking up trash, saving paper and reminding my friends to do the same," Nguyen Ngoc Minh Chau, a Grade 3 student at Xuan Dinh Primary School, excitedly shared.

Not only bringing joy to learning, School Tour 2025 also contributes to forming the mindset and behavior of protecting the environment in the school space. The program also extends playtime with practical activities such as planting trees and donating trash sorting bins to schools. Thanks to that, knowledge about trash sorting or reducing single-use plastic does not stop on the playground, but becomes something that students can practice every day at school. The Vietnamese Stature Fund and TH Group gave students 2,000 glasses of TH true MILK as a gift to encourage the spirit of learning and playing.

Mr. Vu Xuan Thai - Manager of the Environment Program of the Fund for Vietnamese Stature and Ms. Tran Thi Kim Tuyen - Vietnam Pacific Environment Organization participated in tree planting activities with students and teachers of the Vietnam - Australia Inter-level School in Hanoi.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Mai, Principal of Gia Thuong Primary School, commented: "The program is not only an extracurricular activity, but also a vivid lesson about environmental responsibility. I am very happy to see the children pay more attention to reducing plastic waste and together spreading green living habits right in their own school."

After the program ended, the green living spirit was still maintained by many schools, including plans to build "garbage sorting corners", "creative recycling corners" or organize more "green festivals" to continue the message that School Tour brought. These ideas show the positive impact of the program, when students and teachers realized that environmental protection can start right in the daily learning space.

Ms. Ha Thi Diep Hoa, Assistant Principal of the Vietnam - Australia Inter-level School in Hanoi, said that the experiential education method that the program brings "helps students learn how to classify garbage, save resources and connect with the community - important skills in global citizenship education."

Not only creating a learning environment for students, School Tour 2025 is also a valuable practical experience for the implementation team. Nearly 30 young volunteers and Youth Ambassadors for the Environment participated in designing activities, building scenarios, organizing games, hosting programs, etc. That process helps them practice important skills for young people in community activities such as event organization skills, cheerleading, teamwork and communication with school-age children, etc. The participation of environmental experts and partner organizations also contributes to ensuring professionalism and spreading the spirit of social responsibility during the program implementation process.

Nearly 30 volunteers accompany children on the journey of spreading green seeds

One month, four schools, thousands of students, those numbers not only show the scale, but also demonstrate the strong influence of the program.

"For students, change does not come from big calls but starts from small experiences, related to daily life," shared Mr. Vu Xuan Thai, Environmental Program Manager of the Foundation for Vietnamese Stature.

"School Tour does not aim to create 'environmental heroes' in one morning. What we aim to do is help children realize that protecting the environment is something everyone can do, starting with keeping the classroom corner cleaner, carrying a personal water bottle or sorting trash properly. When these simple actions are repeated enough, they gradually form habits, and that is the important foundation for long-term change," he added.

School Tour 2025 - Green shoots to school is therefore not just an extracurricular program, but a journey to sow the belief in a young generation living more responsibly towards the environment and nature. More than 5,500 students today are "Little Ambassadors" spreading the spirit of green living to their families, teachers and the community. And from their small actions, those green shoots will gradually grow, contributing to creating a green - clean - sustainable future for the capital and the country.
