On June 3, Mr. Tra Thanh Danh - Chairman of Quang Ngai City People's Committee - signed and issued a press release informing about land acquisition, site clearance compensation and the plan to enforce land acquisition at the Tra Khuc River downstream dam project.

The Tra Khuc River downstream dam project was approved by the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee in 2018, with a total investment of nearly VND 1,500 billion. To date, the Quang Ngai City People's Committee has approved 4 compensation, support and resettlement plans, including 2 plans related to agricultural land and 2 plans related to residential land.
Regarding agricultural land compensation, more than 37 hectares of land have been recovered with a total value of more than 8 billion VND. All 115 households and 3 affected organizations have received compensation and handed over the land to the State.

Regarding the land compensation plan, the recovered area is nearly 2,200m2, with a total compensation value of 3.76 billion VND. Up to now, 14/15 households have received money, resettlement land and handed over the site. Currently, there is only one household that has not agreed, which is Mr. Tran Van Hoa (residing in An Phu village, Tinh An commune).
According to the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Management Board (project investor), Mr. Hoa requested to be allocated resettlement land because he had no place to live. However, according to current regulations, Mr. Hoa is not eligible for resettlement land because the land recovered is agricultural land, not residential land. The local government and the investor have contacted and persuaded Mr. Hoa many times but he still did not agree.

Chairman of Quang Ngai City People's Committee Tra Thanh Danh said that this case has been carefully reviewed, and all processes and procedures have been fully implemented according to legal regulations. If Mr. Hoa still fails to comply by the deadline, Quang Ngai City will forcibly recover the land before June 20, 2025 to ensure the progress of the project.
Quang Ngai City Chairman Tra Thanh Danh emphasized that land acquisition and site clearance must be carried out publicly, transparently, and in accordance with the law. The city hopes that the press will accompany and provide objective information to create consensus among the people, contributing to completing the project on schedule and serving the common interest.
