Ambassador Alejandro Negrin Munoz affirmed that Mexico always considers Vietnam an important partner, as demonstrated by becoming the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam after the war. Currently, Mexico is Vietnam's second largest trading partner in Latin America, while Vietnam is also Mexico's second largest trading partner in the ASEAN bloc.
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh highly appreciated Mexico's contributions to promoting economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. He mentioned the increasing presence of businesses from both countries in each other's markets, such as Mexico's Kidzania entertainment center at Lotte West Lake, FPT Corporation's branch in Guadalajara city. Events such as "Vietnam Week", "Vietnam Day" in Mexico or the cultural exhibition of the Olmeca civilization have contributed to enhancing understanding and connection between the people of the two countries.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also emphasized that Hanoi is committed to continuing to accompany and support other activities of the Mexican Embassy related to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, contributing to the development of the Vietnam - Mexico comprehensive partnership in a more substantial, profound and effective manner.
Providing more information about Vietnam - Mexico relations, Ambassador Alejandro Negrín Munoz emphasized the importance of 2025 - a pivotal year marking half a century of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He said that in addition to the strong development of political relations, economic relations between the two countries are also increasingly flourishing. Mexico is currently the country importing the most Vietnamese goods in the Caribbean and Latin America. In particular, the meeting between Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil in November 2024 was assessed by the Ambassador as a clear demonstration of the sustainable development of bilateral political relations. |
