Not regularly or consistently tested.
Equipment and machinery that are operated regularly and used daily but are not regularly inspected always pose many risks and dangers. Recently, several serious workplace accidents causing casualties have occurred in Hai Phong city, including at Fantastic International Co., Ltd. (Phu Thai Industrial Park) and Poyun Vietnam Electronics Co., Ltd. (Tran Hung Dao Ward)...
Recently, in early September, a worker at PT M, in the toy assembly department of Sun Vigor Vietnam Smart Toys Co., Ltd. (Tien Cuong Industrial Cluster), was electrocuted while working after coming into contact with a faulty electrical device. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the worker did not survive. The specific cause and the responsibilities of the parties involved are being investigated, but the potential danger from the use and operation of equipment in businesses always poses a direct threat to the health and lives of workers.
However, in reality, many units have not paid sufficient attention to the inspection and testing of equipment and machinery in their factories. According to Nguyen Van Hung, Director of the Hai Phong Technical Safety Inspection Center (Department of Internal Affairs), from the beginning of 2025 to the present, the unit has inspected more than 2,000 pieces of equipment and machinery. The rate of first-time inspections is still low, accounting for only about 15%-20% of the total number of equipment registered for inspection. In addition, many pieces of equipment are past their inspection validity period but are still put into use, posing a high risk to safety. On the other hand, most units registering for equipment inspection are foreign-invested enterprises with a fairly large production scale and established strict and systematic production processes. Many small and medium-sized enterprises have not yet paid sufficient attention to this activity.
Regular equipment inspections can prevent and minimize risks during production. Mr. Vu Van Thoi, Head of Inspection Department, Iso Solution Consulting and Training Co., Ltd., stated: Equipment inspections typically follow a strict five-step process (document review; inspectors directly inspect and evaluate equipment, load testing; processing inspection results and handing over documents, delivering results). This helps businesses detect abnormal equipment issues, assess malfunctions and safety concerns. From there, the inspection unit proposes corrective measures, repairs, and a plan for regular equipment maintenance, ensuring safety for people, goods, and assets during operation. This prevents equipment downtime and minimizes associated costs.

Enhance the application of digital technology.
Along with registration and regular equipment inspections, some businesses have been applying new technological solutions to strengthen their "protective barriers." Mr. Nguyen Hong Duong, Chairman of the Trade Union of Nissei Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd. (Phuc Dien Industrial Park, Mao Dien Commune), said: "The company operates in the field of manufacturing precision molds and electronic components… Currently, the company employs over 1,000 workers. For nearly 20 years, the company has not experienced any serious workplace accidents because it proactively maintains a good network of safety and hygiene officers at the facility to conduct regular inspections, verifications, and recommendations for maintenance and replacement of equipment. In addition, the company installs warning signs and lights in areas where equipment needs repair or maintenance and displays faults… to alert workers before operating the machinery."
According to Mr. Liu Jun, Factory Director of Autel Robotics Vietnam Co., Ltd. (VSIP urban, industrial and service zone), the company uses three pieces of equipment that require strict occupational safety and hygiene standards, which are regularly inspected and guaranteed to be within their validity period. In addition, the company focuses on building safe work processes and continuously improving technology, such as using automated machinery, closed production lines, and reducing hazardous elements. Before entering the factory, workers are provided with personal protective equipment and wear insulating slippers to prevent electrical contact.
Mr. Tran Van Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Affairs, stated: The Department organizes numerous workshops and seminars to exchange and share best practices and innovative approaches in applying advanced technological solutions to detect and warn of potential risks during the operation and use of equipment in some businesses. Furthermore, the Department continues to strengthen inspection teams to detect and assess violations related to equipment operation that lead to workplace accidents in some businesses, thereby proposing prompt corrective measures. Units that intentionally repeat violations will be severely punished to deter future incidents and prevent serious workplace accidents, thereby effectively protecting the health and lives of workers.
