Duy Tan University students win top prizes at the 2025 National Chemistry Olympiad

With outstanding thinking ability and seriousness throughout the preparation and competition process, Duy Tan University students won many high awards at the 12th National Student Chemistry Olympiad in 2025.

Awards Duy Tan University students won include:

o 1 First Prize,

o 1 Second Prize,

o 1 Third Prize, and

o 2 Consolation prizes.

In particular, the Duy Tan University delegation was also honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Chemical Association, recognizing the impressive contributions and achievements of the entire delegation at this year's competition.

The 12th National Student Chemistry Olympiad in 2025 was organized by the Ministryof Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Chemistry Association in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City from April 15-18, 2025 to create a vibrant playground for students passionate about Chemistry. With the participation of 316 excellent students from 45 universities and academies across the country, this year's competition is considered to be the largest in scale ever.

5 excellent students took the exam and won prizes from Duy Tan University

Following the success of the previous 11 competitions, the 12th Competition marked a breakthrough in both form and content. The structure of the exam was innovated in the direction of enhancing the integration between theory and practice, reflecting the modern educational trend in the field of Chemistry. The content of the exam was designed in depth, covering many key areas with an orientation to emphasize the factors of sustainability, creativity and practical application, including:

o General Chemistry,

o Inorganic Chemistry,

o Analytical Chemistry,

o Organic Chemistry, and

o Green Chemistry.

A highlight of this year's Competition is two seminars that delve into the role and importance of Chemistry in solving global issues such as climate change, environmental protection, and sustainable development, specifically:

o Chemicals and Sustainable Development, and

o Chemistry in Sustainable Environmental Technology.

Student Dam Phuong Anh won First Prize and the prestigious Gold Medal.

Competing in Group C, Duy Tan University with a team of 5 talented students has excellently brought back extremely impressive achievements, proving their outstanding academic ability, proactive learning spirit, and affirming the quality of professional training of Duy Tan University.

Awards of Duy Tan University delegation include:

o First Prize - Gold Medal: Dam Phuong Anh ,

o Second Prize - Silver Medal: Tran Thanh Thien ,

o Third Prize - Bronze Medal: Pham Yen Nhi ,

o Encouragement Prize: Le Nguyen Kieu Linh and Hoang Thi Linh Chi .

Student Dam Phuong Anh, First Prize in Group C, currently studying in her third year of Pharmacy (University) at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Duy Tan University, shared her feelings about participating in the contest for the first time: “ I always thought that this was a playground for the best students in the country, so at first I felt quite nervous. After a period of studying, I love Chemistry more and more, and every time I solve a difficult problem, I feel more clearly the beauty and magic of science . The contest is not only an opportunity for me to challenge myself but also helps me practice my thinking, perseverance and have the opportunity to connect with friends who share the same passion. The First Prize achieved at the contest is the result of a journey of constant efforts with the enthusiastic support of teachers at Duy Tan University. Mr. Thuan, Ms. Ha, Mr. Tien and the school leaders have always created favorable conditions to help me confidently participate in the contest. For me, this valuable award is not only an achievement but also an important milestone in my growth process, that: 'I dared to try and I did it.'

Duy Tan University received a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Chemical Association 2025

The Duy Tan University delegation was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Chemical Society, recognizing the outstanding achievements of the entire delegation. This is a worthy reward for the serious investment, solidarity and tireless efforts of both teachers and students to contribute to the sustainable development of the academic community of Chemistry at Duy Tan University.

Dr. Phan Thi Viet Ha - Head of the Department of Food Technology - Biochemistry, Faculty of Environment & Natural Sciences, directly led the delegation of Duy Tan University students participating in the contest, sharing: “ This year's contest marks a breakthrough in both the scale of organization and professional content. The exam structure has been comprehensively innovated, harmoniously combining theory and practice, requiring candidates not only to have solid knowledge but also to demonstrate applied thinking and quick reflexes in the practical exams. The awarding process of the Organizing Committee in this year's contest also has many changes in the form and number of awards, to ensure that the awarding is carried out fairly and accurately to recognize and honor the most outstanding students. Therefore, the achievements that Duy Tan University students have achieved at this contest are a source of great pride, demonstrating the continuous progress in interdisciplinary training, as well as the initiative to learn and overcome the limits of DTU students themselves. "
