Although compared to the same period in 2023, the number of dengue fever cases in Ho Chi Minh City has decreased (from November 11 to November 17, the City recorded 12,013 dengue fever cases, down 27.8% compared to the same period in 2023), if calculated from the beginning of September 2024 until now, the number of cases in the City has tended to continue to increase every week. Ho Chi Minh City is currently the locality with the highest number of cases in the Southern region (accounting for 25%).
Through monitoring the actual situation, Ho Chi Minh City realized that the risk of dengue fever cases will continue to increase if drastic measures are not taken.
To control the current dengue fever epidemic situation in the area, the City Health Department requests district health centers and ward and commune health stations to thoroughly investigate and handle dengue fever cases and outbreaks in the area.
Units need to closely monitor the epidemic situation in the area to provide timely and effective treatment, not allowing the epidemic to break out and spread.
At the same time, the People's Committees of districts, wards and communes continue to resolutely implement activities such as: maintaining activities to eliminate breeding grounds of mosquitoes that transmit dengue fever, promoting communication activities on disease prevention and handling administrative violations in disease prevention.
Currently, it is the school year, so theeducation sector needs to strengthen epidemic prevention activities in schools, especially not allowing water containers to breed larvae and mosquitoes.
When a family member shows symptoms of suspected dengue fever, they should be taken to a medical facility for diagnosis and appropriate care and treatment.
Each individual and family needs to proactively clean their living space, find and remove containers that can generate mosquito larvae.
In addition, dengue fever vaccine has now been licensed for use in Vietnam.
Dengue vaccination is part of a comprehensive solution to prevent dengue fever.
Measures to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and prevent mosquito bites need to be maintained regularly even after vaccination./.
