Since last night, September 29, social networks have been abuzz when a fanpage for Hanoi students posted a clip of a teacher grabbing a female student by the collar and dragging her from the hallway into the classroom at Da Phuc High School (Soc Son District).
The image of a teacher grabbing a female student by the collar and dragging her in front of the classroom is causing a stir in public opinion.
Today, September 30, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued a document requesting the school to urgently report this incident on October 2, and at the same time closely coordinate between the school and the family, promptly grasp the thoughts and activities in the school, and not let incidents happen that affect the reputation andeducational work of the school and the industry.
On the morning of September 30, speaking to the press, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hien, Principal of Da Phuc High School, confirmed that the clip circulating online happened at the school at around 11:30 a.m. on September 29. The school was aware of the incident and had spoken with the students, homeroom teachers, and students' families.
According to Mr. Hien, the student lay down on the ground to… apologize to the teacher. When the teacher asked the student to stand up, he did not stand. Two other students tried to pull him up but failed. The teacher was also impatient, holding the phone in one hand and grabbing the student by the collar with the other hand, pulling him up, but did not hit him. However, according to Mr. Hien, the teacher's action of grabbing the student by the collar and pulling him up was not up to standard.
Mr. Hien also said that the school has contacted the teacher to correct her inappropriate behavior towards the student, and also contacted the student's parents to apologize.
The leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that the department's directive is that school principals must promptly verify, seriously learn from experience, and resolutely and strictly handle any violations.
