Da Nang Department of Education and Training speaks out about excellent students signing for money but only receiving notebooks

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Departmentof Education and Training of Da Nang, said that the department has just issued a press release regarding the article "Signing to receive bonus money but only receiving notebooks, students are upset, when they go to exchange them, they are even more upset" published on Tuoi Tre Online on August 22.

According to Ms. Thuan, the article attracted a lot of public attention.

Ms. Thuan said that previously, in March 2024, the department received a complaint about signs of violations by Mr. Nguyen Ba Hao, principal of Thai Phien High School.

The Department has verified, inspected and has a conclusion to respond to citizens to these teachers on June 7.

Since that conclusion, the verification process has continued to this day to clarify the principal's violations in school management and administration. Including the awarding of awards to students at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

"Along with that, the Department has issued a document requesting the principal to urgently overcome shortcomings and limitations, and report to the Department specifically on the implementation roadmap and results. After the principal of Thai Phien High School overcomes the limitations and has a full report, the Department of Education and Training will take the next steps in accordance with regulations," said Ms. Thuan.

Ms. Thuan also said that during this time, the department has requested the principal of Thai Phien High School, together with the school's teaching council, to focus and make efforts to prepare for the new school year, ensure the material conditions, plans for organizing educational activities, etc., and absolutely not to affect the students' return to school and the opening ceremony of the new school year.

The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City affirmed: "The Department is also very interested in and monitoring the situation of the school in the spirit of promptly grasping information, handling it quickly, with the right person for the right job, and will have information sent to the press agencies to broaden public opinion."

Previously, as reported by Tuoi Tre Online , 654 excellent students of Thai Phien High School were informed to bring 20 notebooks of awards received from 2023 to the school to exchange for money, because the school principal had asked them to sign for 200,000 VND but only gave them 20 96-page Tan Tien Monokuro Boo notebooks, 80g/ ^m2 thick. But they were not allowed to exchange them because the notebooks had torn the outer mirror cover.

When the students protested, the principal announced that they would stop exchanging notebooks and would pay for them in the new school year.

It is worth mentioning that this is the way Principal Nguyen Ba Hao resolved when he directed in the conclusion of the department that "letting students sign for cash to receive notebooks is not in accordance with the payment records. The Principal used the amount of 138,400,000 VND to buy notebooks without bidding and requested that this person return the correct amount to the students who signed for it".
