The digitization of cultural relics and heritages in recent times has contributed to improving the effectiveness of communication activities and introducing historical and cultural sites and relics. In order to strongly promote this activity, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has recently issued a plan to implement the program of digitizing cultural heritages in the province.

Improve the quality of introducing and promoting relics

The Ponagar Tower relic has been attached with a QR code to introduce information to visitors.

Recently, at some locations such as: Gac Ma Soldier Memorial (Cam Lam district), Hon Du revolutionary base (Khanh Vinh district), Phu Cang communal house (Van Ninh district) ..., the Youth Union at all levels has implemented the installation of QR codes to introduce information about these locations. People only need to use a smartphone with Internet connection to scan the QR code to be able to view the necessary information without needing an introduction as before. From there, it contributes to improving the effectiveness of communication activities, introducing historical and cultural addresses and relics. The information integrated into the QR code is exploited and synthesized by the units from official, reliable sources and through the inspection, approval and comparison of specialized agencies.

Since 2020, the Department of Culture and Sports has coordinated with Nha Trang University to install boards with QR codes at the Ponagar Tower relic. To improve the effectiveness of presentations and introductions, the Provincial Monuments Conservation Center has also put into use an automatic explanation system using QR codes (QR Guiding) at the Ponagar Tower relic. With this application, people visiting the relic can proactively learn all the relevant content about the history of formation, cultural values, architectural art, festival characteristics, religious customs, etc. "I just need to use my phone to scan the QR Guiding code to listen to the entire explanation about the Ponagar Tower relic. This is very convenient for visitors when they can learn about the relic according to their interests", said Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Huyen - a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Dung - Deputy Director in charge of the Provincial Monuments Conservation Center, along with the implementation of the QR Guiding code, the unit also built a database and applied on digital platforms scientific records and documents on relics and cultural heritages through the website http://qlhsdtkh.org.vn. By accessing this address, people can learn more about the information of 16 national relics, 180 provincial relics, and 3 national intangible cultural heritages. The Ponagar Tower relic, a number of other historical and cultural artifacts and works in Nha Trang City have completed 3D digitization through the software http://khanhhoa360.vn. The website http://ditichkhanhhoa.org.vn of the Provincial Monuments Conservation Center also integrates information about national and provincial monuments in the area, contributing to serving the needs of tourists to visit and learn more conveniently and effectively. This is also a solution to improve the quality of activities to introduce, promote and promote the value of monuments to the people and tourists.

Push harder

On June 21, the Provincial People's Committee issued a Plan to implement the Program to digitize Vietnamese cultural heritage for the period 2021 - 2030 in the province. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thien - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, the plan aims to build a database system on cultural heritage in the province to facilitate the preservation, maintenance and promotion of the values of national cultural heritage in general and of the locality in particular. From there, move towards applying information technology and digitization into regular activities to preserve records, data, national treasures, antiques, relics and valuable artifacts being kept in museums and relics. The general goal is to build a provincial database system on cultural heritage on a unified digital technology platform and serve the work of archiving, managing, researching, preserving, exploiting and promoting heritage; Implement national digital data connectivity on cultural heritage, ensuring effective service delivery to society and the community anytime, anywhere.

To effectively implement the plan, the province will build a digital platform and implement common standards for storage; create digital data on cultural heritage; operate and exploit the database on cultural heritage; deploy solutions to ensure network safety and security... In particular, the Department of Culture and Sports will take the lead in building and implementing the annual updating of data on cultural heritage; organize the use and exploitation of shared software; inspect, monitor and evaluate the implementation...

It can be said that the specific identification of the list, tasks, solutions, and responsibilities of relevant agencies and organizations in implementing the cultural heritage digitization program is a matter that should be done, on the basis of synchronization with the general digital transformation activities of the locality. Hopefully, in the coming time, access to information, images, and data about relics and cultural heritage will effectively promote the practical needs of many different subjects.

According to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, from now until 2030, 100% of heritages will be registered in the list of national tangible and intangible cultural heritages and the inventory of digitized relics; 100% of national relics, provincial relics, relics and national treasures will be digitized and applied on digital platforms; 100% of professionals working in the field of cultural heritage will be trained and updated with knowledge and digital transformation skills.
