(BTV) On the morning of December 19, the Provincial Association of the Elderly (NCT) coordinated with HAI and KOIKA to organize a preliminary review of the Project: "Supporting disadvantaged elderly people through replicating the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs (CLBs) in Vietnam, phase 2, 2024" (Project VIE085).

The project "Supporting disadvantaged elderly people through expanding intergenerational self-help clubs" is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through HelpAge Korea (HAK) - (referred to as "HAI"). The project is coordinated with the Representative Board/Association of the Elderly to be implemented in 6 provinces/cities. In Bac Ninh province, the project will be implemented from 2023, with the goal of contributing to improving the lives of disadvantaged people, especially the elderly. In 2024 alone, Bac Ninh will establish 9 more intergenerational self-help clubs in 3 units: Yen Phong district, Tien Du and Bac Ninh city; bringing the number of clubs established in the whole province to 18 clubs, with nearly 100 members. The clubs meet once a month, regularly have more than 90% of members participating in physical exercise; regular health check-ups for members. The clubs also manage loans well, and implement capital rotation; timely encourage members when they are sick or encounter unexpected difficulties. Thereby, contributing to helping the elderly live happily, healthily, usefully, perform well the care work and promote the role of the elderly in the community.
In 2025, Bac Ninh will continue to implement phase 2 of the project, establishing 9 more Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs, bringing the total number to 27 clubs.
