Regarding the people's complaints about receiving continuous calls and "spam" advertising messages from strange numbers, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology provided specific information at the Ho Chi Minh City economic and social press conference on the afternoon of May 22.

According to this department, the law currently only regulates the act of spreading spam messages and spam calls. As for intentional, high-frequency spam calls from landline numbers (024.888..., 555...), there are still no specific sanctions.

However, people can take the initiative to avoid being bothered, and even report to the authorities if there are signs of violations.

Specifically, when receiving calls or messages with advertisements or harassment, people can compose a message with the syntax: V [source of dissemination] [content of spam call] and send it to 5656 or 156. These are the two official numbers for receiving feedback from the Ministry of Science and Technology .

The Department of Science and Technology also recommends that press and media agencies disseminate these recommendations so that people can protect themselves from harassment and scams via phone and text messages.
