The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just inspected Viet Khang Thu Duc General Clinic (address 83C Dang Van Bi, Thu Duc Ward) after receiving many complaints about signs of "faking illnesses and extorting money" at this facility.

According to information from the Inspection and Legal Department (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health) on July 23, during the working process, the clinic belonging to Viet Khang Thu Duc General Clinic Company Limited was discovered to have signs of "faking illnesses" of patients.

Synthesizing petitions from people, authorities determined that Viet Khang Thu Duc General Clinic is a "hot spot" in medical examination and treatment activities, often being reported for "faking illnesses and extorting money" with the same trick.

Specifically, this clinic initially offered low-cost medical examination packages. However, after that, the staff continuously reported additional illnesses and requested many unnecessary services, causing costs to skyrocket, in some cases up to tens of millions of dong.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said it is continuing to coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Police to investigate, clarify and strictly handle organizations and individuals related to the violations, if there is sufficient evidence. The handling results will be made public on the Department of Health's electronic information portal.

Local health authorities also recommend that people carefully check information when choosing a medical examination place at the "Medical and Pharmaceutical Practice Lookup Portal" (https://tracuu.medinet.org.vn), and not rush to pay unusual and unclear fees.

When suspecting "fake illness and extortion", people can immediately contact the hotline of the Department of Health (0967.771.010 and 0989.401.155) or report via the "Online Health" application so that the authorities can promptly detect and handle the situation according to regulations.
