Exciting exchange activities at the 9-1 Traditional Camp

On the morning of January 6, at Long Truong High School (Thu Duc City), more than 1,000 students from 20 high schools in Thu Duc City participated in the 16th Traditional Camping Festival on January 9, 2024. This is one of the activities to celebrate the 74th anniversary of Vietnamese Students' Day (January 9, 1950 - January 9, 2024).

Proud of traditional historical values

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Hoang Thi Hao, Principal of Dao Son Tay High School (Thu Duc City), who is also the head of the organizing committee of the Thu Duc City camp cluster, said that the traditional January 9 camp aims to review the revolutionary struggle tradition of the Vietnamese student movement in the struggle to protect the country's sovereignty . This is also an opportunity to create more playgrounds for students to demonstrate the creativity, dynamism and confidence of generations of students in the city named after Uncle Ho.

The camp aims to introduce and honor exemplary students in studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings, conveying the message "Students in the entireeducation sector compete to study well, practice well and volunteer to join hands with the community".

In addition, folk games and collective activities during the festival aim to create an environment for meeting, exchanging and strengthening solidarity among students of schools in the professional cluster.

Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu emphasized that students need to understand and be proud of the tradition of the student movement in the city, which played an important role in the movement to fight for national independence. From that sense of pride, students will determine what they need to do to be worthy of that tradition.

Over the years, the theme "Proud of city students studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings" has been maintained to help students understand their sense of responsibility, thereby implementing well the 5 teachings of Uncle Ho.

"Studying is the most important task but not the only one. Besides studying, students need to participate in many activities to comprehensively develop their abilities and qualities, and know how to play a sport to have the health to participate in studying and contributing. That spirit must be widely spread to every student in the city."

In particular, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City hope that each student will be equipped with survival skills in many different environments and conditions, becoming typical citizens of the digital age with the spirit of always learning, constantly exploring, accessing advanced technology, serving well for their own learning and training.

On behalf of more than 1,000 students participating in the camp at Thu Duc City camp cluster, Le Ngoc Truc Linh, a student of class 11A7, Long Truong High School, said that the activities at the camp helped her understand more about the indomitable fighting spirit as well as the heroic sacrifices of generations of students in the city.

From that awareness, Truc Linh is determined to carry out well the 5 teachings of Uncle Ho, proactively participate in activities contributing to building a happy school such as building positive relationships in the school; respecting the diversity and differences of each student; being aware of supporting students in difficult circumstances; maintaining a spirit of integrity, empathy, confidence, following the example of good people and good deeds, participating in building a positive environment, without school bullying...

Similarly, for Tran Thi Mong Kieu, Secretary of the Youth Union of Dao Son Tay High School (Thu Duc City), the camp gave her many opportunities to supplement her knowledge, as well as the opportunity to exchange and learn many interesting things from other schools.

On this occasion, the 9-1 Traditional Camp at the Thu Duc City camp cluster honored 40 exemplary students in studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings, and awarded certificates of merit from the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to 17 students who achieved the title of "3 Good Students" at the city level in 2023.

In the 2023-2024 school year, the 9-1 Traditional Camp will be held simultaneously at 8 camp clusters across the city with the participation of more than 11,000 outstanding students and trainees from junior high schools, high schools, continuing education centers, vocational education - continuing education centers in the city.

Through that, the camps honored 372 outstanding students in studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings. The camps took place at high schools including Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Duong Van Duong High School, Nguyen Khuyen High School, Binh Hung Hoa High School, Tay Thanh High School, Tran Van Giau High School, Trung Phu High School and Long Truong High School.
