Possessing a smooth, emotionally rich voice and the ability to compose music in many genres, singer-songwriter Cap Anh Tai (from Tra Loc village, Hai Hung commune, Hai Lang district) is currently a name admired by many. Besides famous songs in the folk and lyrical genres, Cap Anh Tai is also known for many lively songs associated with sports events and football cheering... The skillful combination of his passion for music and love of sports has given him the inspiration to accompany, ignite, and bring beautiful melodies to sports fans.

A special source of inspiration

Recently, the song "AFF Cup Emotions"—a song released in 2018 by singer-songwriter Cap Anh Tai—was sung enthusiastically by many fans when the Vietnamese National Football Team won the ASEAN Cup 2024. The joyful and proud emotions from years ago, when he began writing songs to accompany the many victories of Vietnamese sports, once again overflowed in his heart.

Looking back on his artistic journey, Cap Anh Tai emphasized to us that sports was a special source of inspiration that brought him closer to the public and helped his music career flourish.

Having participated in numerous cultural and artistic activities for his school, local community, and Dong Ha City since his school days, his singing career has become increasingly professional over time.

However, it wasn't until 2011, after composing lyrics to an existing song for the video "Overview of Vietnamese Football," that the name Cap Anh Tai became known to the online community and many people. He shared: "I love sports, especially football."

"Thanks to sports, I am where I am today. Firstly, because of sports, I've had the opportunity to change my appearance and improve my health in a more positive way. More importantly, my love for sports has inspired me to compose songs that have been warmly received by the audience. This has served as a springboard for me to continue steadily on my path to pursuing my passion for music."

Cáp Anh Tài recounted that, from the early 2000s, when Vietnamese football was deeply cared for by fans but lacked many accompanying songs, he harbored the intention of writing and singing motivational songs. In 2012, when he embarked on a professional singing career, he gradually began to realize his ideas and was surprised by the support from the audience, the domestic media, and especially the players.

The song "U19 Flame" was composed by Cap Anh Tai as a gift to the Vietnam U19 team at the 2014 Southeast Asian U19 Football Championship. After its release, the song became a hit, appearing on many social media sites, forums, and television channels such as VTV1, VTV3, VTV6, VTC... and was used by the organizers throughout the tournament.

His motivational songs have cheerful melodies and simple, easy-to-listen-to lyrics, making them easy to remember and sing along to, so sports fans of all ages can hum along and sing along. From his songs, football enthusiasts and music lovers have a fresh source of inspiration, encouraging the Vietnamese national football team to perform brilliantly and achieve many victories. Also, from this endless inspiration stemming from his love of football, singer-songwriter Cap Anh Tai is creating more and more musical products associated with the footsteps of the players...

Making a mark with many sports songs.

After the 2014 Southeast Asian U19 Football Championship, the young players at the time, such as Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Hong Duy, etc., all knew the song "The U19 Flame" by heart and always hoped for the companionship and participation of singer-songwriter Cap Anh Tai in many of the team's activities. This was also a source of joy and motivation for him to continue creating more high-quality songs about sports. "My songs to encourage football are often sung by many athletes and players whenever they are about to enter a match."

"This is the joy of an artist, because nothing is more satisfying than having your work so enthusiastically received and supported by the audience. Although most of the motivational songs are topical and less interesting to the audience after the competition, I am still very happy that I have contributed to 'igniting' Vietnamese football," Anh Tài said.

Since 2014, Cap Anh Tai has composed and performed many songs about sports and football. Notable examples include "The Flame of U19," "I Believe in U19," and "The Whirlwind of U19," dedicated to the Vietnamese U19 team; and songs like "Vietnam Number One," "We Are Vietnam," and "Soaring with U23," encouraging the Vietnamese sports delegation at the SEA Games and the Vietnamese U23 team.

Besides songs supporting Vietnamese football, he also composes songs about top football tournaments around the world such as the World Cup and the Euro; and performs at many sports events and football tournaments throughout the country. His performances are always enthusiastically received by athletes and spectators alike, thanks to the lively melodies and meaningful lyrics of his songs, which liven up the atmosphere of the tournaments.

The mark that Cap Anh Tai left behind was his habit of composing and singing songs about tournaments, many of which were used by the organizers as the official theme songs. Notable examples include "Vietnam Golden Ball" - a song dedicated to the Vietnam Golden Ball Award; "Press Cup" - the official theme song of the National Press Agencies Football Tournament; and "Spring of Vietnamese Youth and Student Football" - the main theme song of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Football Tournament.

Speaking about the inspiration for the lyrics of his compositions, Anh Tài said: “I think sports, especially football, are not just about competitions, but also about teaching viewers many lessons about the power of teamwork. The will to excel and the determination to win shown by the players in each match are also a beautiful tradition of the Vietnamese people. Therefore, I often incorporate images like 'Phù Đổng' or 'descendants of Lạc Hồng' into my songs, trying to choose lyrics that are easy to understand but also carry a profound message of encouragement.”

To date, Cap Anh Tai can't remember how many songs he's composed about sports, cheering on football, or dedicating to tournaments. However, one thing is certain: this talented musician from Quang Tri still keeps the passionate "flame" of a Vietnamese sports fan and lover alive, and will continue to express it in the most special way through each note.

Cáp Anh Tài said: “I hope that Quang Tri will have more large-scale, professional sports tournaments and football competitions so that young talents can be discovered, nurtured, and developed; and I also hope to have the opportunity to compose songs to encourage sports and football in Quang Tri.”
