Transfer of technology for drying rattan materials using solar energy.

QTO - On December 10th and 11th, the Forest Industry Research Institute, in collaboration with the Quang Tri Agricultural Extension Center, organized a training course on "Transferring techniques for drying rattan raw materials using solar energy at households and processing facilities" for 30 participants, including households and community agricultural extension officers in Dong Le commune, Quang Tri province.

Through the training course, participants gained access to solar-powered rattan drying techniques and practiced the rattan drying process from material preparation, temperature control, drying time, recording results, to product completion.

As part of the training course, participants also visited and learned from the practical experience at Van Son Bamboo and Rattan Weaving Cooperative in Dong Le commune. With support from the National Agricultural Extension Program, in 2025, the Van Son Bamboo and Rattan Weaving Cooperative will receive a solar-powered rattan drying model from the Forest Industry Research Institute, with a capacity of 6 tons of dried raw materials per drying batch.

The use of a solar-powered drying system at the Van Son Bamboo and Rattan Weaving Cooperative has shown a 100% reduction in fuel costs and environmental emissions; a 20% reduction in drying costs compared to traditional methods; a 10% reduction in waste; and a 15% increase in economic efficiency compared to natural air drying.

Through the training course and the results of using the solar drying system at Van Son Bamboo and Rattan Weaving Cooperative, the trainees will choose modern drying technology solutions to improve the processing capacity of bamboo and rattan products, contributing to sustainable environmental protection.
