After an 8-year hiatus, the "Most Popular Player" category returns to the Vietnam Golden Ball Award system - the most prestigious award in Vietnamese football, initiated and organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper since 1995.
Bringing back the "Most Popular Player" category in 2025 also signifies a continuation and inheritance of a milestone that once created a great impact in the history of the Vietnamese Golden Ball Award.
In 2017, the "Most Popular Player" award was held for the first time and went to player Nguyen Cong Phuong.
This time, the voting対象 has been expanded to include male and female players currently competing in the V-League, First Division, and futsal.
The Vietnamese Golden Ball has long been considered a "benchmark" for the professionalism of Vietnamese football, with a voting system based on the opinions of experts, coaches, and the media.
This year's poll, organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper , was conducted online via the MoMo application – a large-scale interactive media activity that reflects the trend of combining sports , technology, and digital platforms.

On this app, fans nationwide can easily scan QR codes to access the official voting page. The program will run from December 10th to 23rd, 2025 – the time when national teams compete at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
From a broader perspective, the return of this category also demonstrates the open-mindedness of the Vietnam Golden Ball Award Organizing Committee, as they listen to public aspirations and continue to enrich the cultural and social values surrounding football.
