Soon upgrade and expand the route Lo Gach

The Lo Gach - Nuoc Trong bridge route is a vital traffic route connecting National Highway 51 to Long Duc Industrial Park (IP), about 4km long.

Insecurity for thousands of workers traveling

The route of Lo Gach - Cau Nuoc Trong is one of the traffic routes with high traffic density. However, over the years, the deterioration of the road surface as well as the encroachment of traffic safety corridors by brick kilns in the area has made the risk of traffic safety on this route always "lurking".

Mr. Hiroyuki Ishii, General Director of Long Duc Investment Co., Ltd., the investor of Long Duc Industrial Park, said that Long Duc Industrial Park is attracting nearly 80 enterprises to rent land for production and business activities. Over the years, enterprises have frequently reported on the deterioration of this road.

“At meetings between the Provincial People's Committee and foreign enterprises, we have repeatedly reported on the degraded condition of the road, but it has not been resolved yet,” said Mr. Hiroyuki Ishii.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha requested the Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant agencies to inspect and immediately handle the situation of brick kilns encroaching on the traffic safety corridor on the route Lo Gach - Cau Nuoc Trong.

In particular, according to Mr. Hiroyuki Ishii, not only does it affect the circulation and transportation of raw materials of enterprises, the deterioration and encroachment on the traffic safety corridor on the Lo Gach - Nuoc Trong bridge route also causes insecurity for thousands of workers on their way to work at factories in Long Duc Industrial Park.

“Long Duc Industrial Park currently has about 14 thousand workers working in enterprises. Therefore, traffic on this route has a high density,” Mr. Hiroyuki Ishii added.

Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Nao Thien Anh Minh said that after receiving the petition of Long Duc Investment Company Limited, on June 12, the Department of Construction presided over and coordinated with the Provincial Police, Long Thanh District People's Committee, Dong Nai Industrial Park Management Board, and Long Duc Investment Company Limited to conduct a field inspection of the Lo Gach - Nuoc Trong bridge route.

The inspection results show that the road has a 18m wide road surface, with a median strip, which is now seriously degraded, with many sections damaged, peeling, and having “potholes” and deep holes. The road lacks a system of signs, road markings, and lighting is not guaranteed, and is often flooded when it rains. On the other hand, the road has a high traffic density, especially during rush hour, posing a potential risk of traffic safety. The traffic volume of trucks and containers is large due to serving brick kilns and industrial parks.

In particular, according to Mr. Minh, there are many brick kilns operating on both sides of the road, causing pollution, violating traffic safety corridors, encroaching on the roadside, dragging mud onto the road, causing slippery conditions and loss of traffic safety.

“There have been many traffic accidents on this route. Recently, there was a fatal accident, the victim was a worker of a company operating in Long Duc Industrial Park, causing outrage in the business community,” said Mr. Nao Thien Anh Minh.

Urgently complete project procedures

Recently, at the working session of the Provincial People's Committee with relevant authorities on the proposal to ensure traffic safety on the Lo Gach - Cau Nuoc Trong route, the Department of Construction proposed that the Provincial People's Committee consider and assign relevant authorities to urgently repair the lighting system, road surface and organize sanitation, dredge sewers, and ensure drainage to ensure traffic safety on the Lo Gach - Cau Nuoc Trong route. At the same time, inspect and handle the encroachment of traffic safety corridors by brick kilns operating on this route. According to the Department of Construction, these are immediate solutions that need to be implemented immediately to ensure traffic safety.

In the long term, the Department of Construction recommends accelerating the implementation of the Project to Upgrade and Expand the Lo Gach - Nuoc Trong Bridge route. This project was approved in principle by the Provincial People's Committee in early 2022. By mid-August 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document on the investment phase of the Road Project to Long Duc Industrial Park with the content of proposing 2 project cross-sections. Specifically, section 1 from National Highway 51 to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway will have a cross-section of 45m; section 2 from Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway to Long Duc Industrial Park will have a cross-section of 32m.

Vice Chairman of Long Thanh District People's Committee Le Hoang Son said that the locality is carrying out procedures related to supplementing and adjusting land use planning, land use plans and construction planning to implement the project.

Also at the working session of the Provincial People's Committee with relevant authorities regarding the proposal to ensure traffic safety on the Lo Gach - Nuoc Trong bridge route, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha requested Long Thanh district to quickly complete the work related to land use planning and construction planning to serve as a basis for accelerating the investment progress to upgrade and expand the route.
