After many years of construction and restoration, the historical and cultural relic of the Duong Phuc Tu Temple in Lac Dao commune (Van Lam) has now seriously degraded, causing concerns about the safety and conservation value of the relic.
The church of the first-rank scholar Duong Phuc Tu was built during the Later Le Dynasty on an area of 440 square meters in the middle of Ngoc village, Lac Dao commune. The church was built in the shape of the letter Nhat, consisting of 3 rooms and 2 wings, the front facing south, tiled roof, the entire truss system is made of wood... The church still retains many ancient artifacts such as horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, incense tables... With its cultural values, in 2012, the church of the first-rank scholar Duong Phuc Tu was granted a certificate of provincial-level relic ranking by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
After many renovations, the most recent in 2012, the building now shows signs of serious damage. The roof tiles are skewed, the walls are peeling, revealing large broken pieces. Inside, many pillars and beams are eaten away by termites, hollow and could collapse at any time if not repaired promptly.
Mr. Duong Dinh Thuyet, a member of the Management Board of the Duong Phuc Tu Temple Relic, said: Every time it rains, the temple leaks heavily, we have to use buckets and basins to catch the water. Although we have made many requests to the local authorities, there is still no solution to fix it.
Faced with this situation, the people and the Management Board of the Duong Phuc Tu Temple relic requested that the relevant agencies and local authorities pay attention and soon have a plan to invest in renovation to preserve the historical and cultural values of the relic.
