Train SE4 departed on May 22 from Saigon station to Hanoi , served by the Southern Railway Attendants Group. When the train departed, the train crew discovered a passenger who had skipped tickets, Ms. PTNg (born in 1978; from Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi).
Ms. Ng said that she bought a train ticket to Ho Chi Minh City to visit relatives and borrow money to treat her husband who was seriously ill in her hometown. However, when she arrived, she could not contact her relatives and could not arrange money, so she fell into a deadlock, without money to buy a train ticket home.
Out of desperation, Ms. Ng tried to get on the train without paying her ticket. Fortunately, when discovered by railway staff, instead of handling the case according to regulations, Train Captain Tran Van Tri and the staff on train SE4 chose to act in a sympathetic and humane manner.
After understanding her situation, the train crew proactively donated money to buy tickets for this special guest.
In just a short time, everyone donated enough money to buy a train ticket for Ms. Ng to return home, and also provided meals on the train during the long journey, implementing the motto of the Vietnam Railways industry: "The train is home, passengers are relatives".
In her handwritten thank you letter, Ms. Ng expressed her deep gratitude to those who helped her in her time of need: “I have no relatives and no money to buy a ticket, but you bought me a ticket, bought me food, and took care of my bus ride from Hanoi station to home. Once again, thank you very much!”
