Son La proposes to build 13 inter-level schools in the border, with a total investment of 2,696 billion VND.

TPO - On August 6, the People's Committee of Son La province said that the locality has sent a document to the Ministry of Education and Training proposing a list of primary and secondary boarding schools in border communes according to Notice No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025 of the Politburo.

Son La Provincial People's Committee surveyed 13 locations to build inter-level boarding schools at the border.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Son La province proposed a list of 13 primary and secondary boarding schools in 13 border communes (including the communes of Muong Leo, Sop Cop, Muong Lan, Chieng Khoong, Muong Hung, Chieng Khuong, Phieng Pan, Yen Son, Phieng Khoai, Long Phieng, Long Sap, Chieng Son, Xuan Nha).

Of which, Son La Provincial People's Committee proposed to build 11 new schools; renovate and upgrade 2 schools (in Phieng Khoai and Phieng Pan communes). Total capital requirement is 2,696 billion VND.

According to the proposal, 13 border schools will have 390 classrooms, meeting the learning needs of 13,000 students (each school will have 30 classrooms with 1,000 students).

Previously, the Standing Committee of Son La Provincial Party Committee held a conference to agree on the policy of building schools in the border area, determine the location and location; adjust and supplement the construction plan of 13 schools in 13 border communes at the request of the Party Committee of Son La Provincial People's Committee.

At the meeting of the Standing Committee of Son La Provincial Party Committee, it was determined that in the period of 2025-2026, it is expected to invest in building 5 schools in the communes of Long Sap, Chieng Son, Xuan Nha, Phieng Khoai, Chieng Khuong, and Sop Cop.

According to the People's Committee of Son La province, these are communes with good traffic routes; site conditions meeting the required construction scale; capable of renovation, upgrading and expansion; can be implemented on the basis of taking advantage of general planning projects and zoning plans approved by competent authorities (reviewing, establishing and locally adjusting planning according to regulations)...

It is expected that by 2027, 7 schools will be invested in building in the communes of Muong Leo, Muong Lan, Muong Hung, Chieng Khoong, Phieng Pan, Yen Son, and Long Phieng.

According to Notice No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025, the Politburo agreed on the policy of investing in the construction of primary and secondary boarding schools in 248 land border communes. In the immediate future, the pilot investment will complete the construction or renovation of 100 schools in 2025 (no later than the start of the next school year). These schools will be models for further widespread implementation, completing the investment goal of building 248 schools in the next 2-3 years.
