On the evening of June 6, an art program performing the national intangible cultural heritage of the Fishing Festival was held at Nghinh Phong Square (Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen ) with the theme "Quintessence of Phu Yen coastal heritage".
The program is organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen to honor the national intangible cultural heritage - the Fishing Festival, a unique traditional cultural beauty of the coastal residents of Phu Yen.
Cultural events and typical tourism products to introduce to the people of the whole country and international tourists, contributing to effective and sustainable tourism development.
Originating from fishermen's belief in the god of the South Sea - Ca Ong (whale), the Cau Ngu Festival is an occasion for people in fishing villages to express their gratitude to the sea and pray for a year of favorable weather, smooth sailing, and a full hold of fish and shrimp.
This is not just a religious ritual, but part of the collective memory of coastal residents, where spiritual life and labor blend into a distinct identity.
With such cultural depth, in 2016, the Phu Yen Fishing Festival was honored as a national intangible cultural heritage. This is a historical milestone in the journey of preserving and spreading the identity of the coastal region.
To honor and revive these heritage values, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen province organized a special art program, where traditional heritage and modern technology converge in the land of light.
Here, special rituals such as Ong procession, super dance, worshiping Nam Hai god... are elaborately recreated on stage with vivid 3D mapping effects.
The highlight is the performance of Ho Ba Trao - a unique folk performance, recreating the scene of fishermen going out to sea, stories about the merits of the Nam Hai god, grandly staged with the image of the Ho Ba Trao heritage boat, with the participation of fishermen and local artisans.
