The Month of Action on occupational safety and hygiene and the annual Workers' Month are practical activities, aiming to raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, enterprises and all workers in ensuring occupational safety and hygiene for the health and lives of workers, for the sustainable development of each unit, enterprise and society.

In recent years, with the efforts of all levels, sectors and all workers, Lam Dong province has achieved many results in occupational safety and hygiene. The number of deaths and injuries due to occupational accidents has decreased sharply; many enterprises have had solutions to prevent and reduce the number of serious or fatal occupational accidents; the material and spiritual life of workers and laborers has been constantly improved.

However, Ms. Le Thi Theu - Deputy Director of Lam Dong Department of Home Affairs, member of Lam Dong Provincial Council for Occupational Safety and Hygiene, said that occupational accidents and occupational diseases have caused heavy losses to the victims and their families; at the same time, caused considerable damage to human resources and financial resources for businesses and the social community.

According to statistics compiled by the Ministry of Home Affairs , in 2024, there were 8,206 occupational accidents nationwide, causing 8,472 victims; of which, 584 people died, 1,546 people were seriously injured, and the damage was 42,565 billion VND.

In Lam Dong, in 2024, in areas with labor relations, there were 7 labor accidents, killing 8 people and seriously injuring 5 people; in areas without labor relations, there were 3 labor accidents, killing 2 people and injuring 1 person. The total damage from labor accidents in 2024 was more than 2.11 billion VND.

The main causes of fatal work accidents include: 46.91% due to employers; 22.88% due to employees; the remaining 30.21% occur due to other causes such as traffic accidents, work accidents caused by others, and are objective and difficult to avoid.

The Month of Action for Labor Safety and Hygiene, Workers' Month 2025 with the theme: Strengthening assessment, identifying hazards and risks and proactively implementing measures to ensure labor safety and hygiene at the workplace and Vietnamese Workers pioneering into a new era, is organized with the goal of emphasizing the protection of the health and precious lives of workers.

With the determination to control occupational accidents and diseases, aiming for a safe, highly productive production, and fulfilling social responsibilities, the Lam Dong Provincial Council for Occupational Safety and Hygiene recommends that agencies, departments, businesses and workers themselves pay attention to implementing well the contents such as strengthening inspection and guidance on occupational safety and hygiene in areas with high risks of occupational accidents and serious incidents.

Localities in the province need to strengthen inspection and guidance for businesses on compliance with labor safety and hygiene regulations; conduct statistics, reports, and make records of labor accidents for workers without labor relations.

For enterprises, it is necessary to further strengthen the implementation of occupational safety and hygiene; focusing on self-inspection, control and prevention of dangerous and harmful factors in the workplace, focusing on preventing occupational accidents due to falls from heights, electric shock, falling objects, and collapses; organizing occupational safety and hygiene training for workers; promoting propaganda activities to raise awareness and consciousness about ensuring safety, health and life for workers; improving working conditions to be safer and better and taking care of and improving the material and spiritual life of workers.

Mr. Pham Van Duoc - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation said that the Trade Union organization continues to pay attention to directing and guiding all levels of Trade Unions in the province to do well in a number of contents such as: Continuing to propagate and mobilize workers to actively respond to the Green - Clean - Beautiful emulation movement, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene; Good Labor - Creative Labor movement; studying to improve qualifications, professional knowledge and skills; innovating, having many initiatives, technical improvements, applying modern technology to production, contributing to increasing labor productivity, work efficiency, and improving business efficiency.

The Trade Union actively advises, proposes, and coordinates the organization so that the heads of Party committees, authorities at the same level, and employers can contact and dialogue with union members and workers in accordance with actual conditions, ensuring the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers; visit, encourage, and give gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, those who have had work-related accidents, occupational diseases, or serious illnesses, etc.

For workers, be proactive in protecting yourself and your colleagues by working safely, following technical procedures, and not being subjective or negligent, even with just a small operation.

Also at the launching ceremony, 30 workers and laborers received gifts from the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee. At the same time, 10 groups and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in occupational safety and hygiene were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee.

On this occasion, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department coordinated with local forces, officers, workers and employees of Da Lat Fiber Company to organize a fire prevention and fighting drill. This drill aims to train and instruct workers on the evacuation procedures in case of fire and explosion, while emphasizing the plan and coordination in fire prevention and fighting, rescue between professional forces and on-site forces.
