After the peak summer season, the city’s tourism industry continues to implement programs and activities to attract international visitors, especially from traditional markets. The return of visitors as well as increased promotion, advertising, and connections to expand new markets will help Da Nang diversify its visitor sources and avoid seasonality.

Efforts to "pull customers" from traditional markets
For a long time, visitors from Northeast Asia such as Japan and Korea have been traditional markets for the city's tourism industry. To retain these markets and attract new markets, the tourism industry and businesses in the area have continuously organized many activities to attract visitors.
According to the Department of Tourism, in the period 2015-2019, Korea always led the top 3 international tourist markets to Da Nang. In 2022, immediately after reopening to international visitors, Da Nang has recorded remarkable growth in the number of Korean visitors. The total number of Korean visitors staying in Da Nang in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated at more than 822,000, accounting for more than 41% of the total number of international visitors, leading the international tourist market to Da Nang, up 40% over the same period in 2023. To continue attracting Korean visitors, from July 15 to the end of 2024, the Department of Tourism will organize the "Enjoy Danang Again" campaign. This campaign is for Korean tourists who have been to Da Nang and when they return, the city will give them a souvenir of an umbrella with stylized images of symbols and some of the city's prominent destinations.
Along with that are attractive incentive packages and discounts on accommodation services at 4-5 star hotels, entertainment at Danang Downtown, Charming show; culinary experiences, shopping, spa, transportation... Returning Korean visitors will receive souvenirs and keep the moment right at the Tourist Support Center at the International Arrivals Terminal, Danang International Airport. Visitors can scan the QR code provided in publications and information pages about the program to receive incentives from participating service providers.
From August 1, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) cooperated with Da Nang College of Culture and Arts to expand and renew the art performance program "Heritage Road" at Da Nang International Terminal (Terminal T2). AHT's "Heritage Road" program was launched in December 2022, becoming a cultural highlight at Terminal T2, bringing more than 330 unique performances from Thursday to Sunday every week with a variety of acts such as tuong, traditional dance and singing, solo - ensemble of traditional musical instruments, Hue Royal Court Music, Hue Chau Van...
After nearly 2 years of operation, the "Heritage Road" program has created a vibrant cultural exchange space and received much love and support from many international tourists. In the near future, the performances will be supplemented and renewed, passengers arriving at Da Nang International Terminal will enjoy performances imbued with local culture such as: lotus dance, traditional musical instrument ensemble, Hoi An lantern dance "Hoai Street Festival Night", monochord solo "Arirang", Apsara dance "Shining Ancient Tower"... The new performances take place at 10 to 11 pm from Monday to Wednesday every week in the international departure terminal isolation area, in addition to the current performances from Thursday to Sunday.
According to Mr. Do Trong Hau, Deputy General Director of AHT Company, through the traditional art performances in the program "Heritage Road", we hope to make an important contribution to preserving, promoting and further promoting local culture to international passengers. The performances will continue to bring tourists meaningful pre-flight experiences, while contributing to building the image of Da Nang as an attractive and unique tourist destination.

Cooperation, diversify customer sources
Tourism professionals believe that Da Nang's peak tourist season is still the summer months, with the number of visitors often lower in the remaining months. Director of Visit Indochina Nguyen Son Thuy said that the city's tourism industry needs to find solutions to attract diverse sources of visitors to spread the number of visitors throughout the year. Mr. Thuy suggested that festivals and tourism events, conferences and seminars are one of the tools to effectively stimulate demand and overcome seasonality in the tourism industry.
However, currently, festivals are often focused on domestic tourist season, especially summer, while in the low season, events are sparse and small-scale. Therefore, to create attractiveness, it is necessary to pay due attention and invest appropriately to attract international visitors, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, when Koreans have a very high demand for tourism. The city can pay attention to investing and upgrading it to an event to attract Korean visitors during this period, or have activities to attract Japanese visitors during the Golden Holiday (around September); this is also the low tourist season of the year in Da Nang.
In addition, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy also said that MICE tourism (conferences, seminars, awards, exhibitions, fairs) is also a strength of Da Nang to attract visitors from large markets, so the city needs to add more diverse services for these products as well as have many big events to attract MICE tourism organizers.
Sharing his opinion, Nguyen Nhu Nam, Executive Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Fund, said that the city's tourism industry is making efforts to connect and attract visitors from traditional international markets and new markets, including new markets from Malaysia. It is expected that from the end of September 2024, Malaysia Airlines will start flying directly to Da Nang with a frequency of 7 flights/week. This shows that Da Nang is an attractive destination for the Malaysian market. To connect and enhance cooperation, Malaysia has a cooperation and promotion program in Da Nang. At the end of August, the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Fund organized a promotion and tourism connection program in the Malaysian market. Da Nang businesses have the opportunity to participate and connect with partners in the neighboring country to cooperate and exchange visitors in the future, contributing to diversifying the source of visitors for Da Nang in the coming time.
