Accelerate tourism on National Day September 2 with many attractive programs

Many localities across the country are implementing a series of programs to attract domestic and international visitors during the National Day holiday on September 2.

Hanoi is rising to the top of the list of domestic destinations that tourists are most interested in and searching for on the occasion of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Busy welcoming guests

Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda in Vietnam, said that the number of room searches by guests on Agoda during the National Day holiday in Hanoi increased by 370% compared to the same period in 2024. Data from online travel platform Booking.com on September 2 also showed that Hanoi was the most searched domestic destination.

Meanwhile, according to the announcement of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the growth rate of hotel room bookings during the holiday season this year in the capital is from 40%-50% compared to the same period last year. The room occupancy rate at many accommodation establishments reached 80%-95%, in which many hotels were "sold out" during the peak days from August 30 to September 3.

Many 4-5 star hotels and apartment complexes in this area reached 100% capacity on the night of September 1, such as Hanoi Daewoo, Pullman Hanoi, Army Hotel, Melia Hanoi, The Five Residences apartment complex, Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake...

At some other hotels such as Pan Pacific, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi... occupancy rates exceeded 70%-80% and continued to increase rapidly; while small 1-3 star hotels in the center of Hoan Kiem and around the parade area were almost fully booked.

It is estimated that the number of international visitors to Noi Bai airport on September 2 will reach a record, nearly 110,000 passengers on the peak day. At bus stations in Hanoi, the number of passengers is also forecast to increase by 350%, with the peak concentrated from August 28 to 30 on both departure and arrival directions. Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company will mobilize an additional 1,000 vehicles. The city will also offer free buses and metro during the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2, from August 30 to September 2.

In order to best serve the needs of tourists during the holidays, the Hanoi tourism industry has put into operation high-quality trains such as SJourney, Hoa Phuong Do (Hanoi - Hai Phong culinary tour), "Nam Cua O" tourist train...

Along with the parade activities, the city also opened many relic sites and museums for free from August 29 to September 3, to create conditions for tourists and residents to visit and experience culture and history. In particular, the city launched 80 typical tourism products, ranging from heritage, ecology, resorts to night tourism, metro, waterway, to diversify choices, enhance experiences and affirm the capital's tourism brand.

Many attractive destinations

Many localities across the country also implemented many tourism stimulus programs on the occasion of National Day and attracted a large number of visitors.

In Quang Tri, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that many cultural, artistic and sports activities will take place throughout the locality, notably the traditional boat racing and rowing on Kien Giang River, the fireworks display and the art night to celebrate National Day in Dong Ha Ward. Thanks to proactively stimulating tourism, promoting, diversifying tourism products and focusing on service quality, most hotels and accommodation facilities in Quang Tri are almost fully booked. In the first 7 months of the year, the whole province welcomed nearly 6.6 million visitors.

Da Nang is considered the most vibrant destination in the Central region during this holiday. The city is implementing the "Enjoy Danang - Diverse Experiences" program from mid-August to the end of October, with the peak being the September 2 holiday. Visitors are offered free admission to many major museums, and discounts of up to 40%-50% at entertainment, accommodation, and dining venues. Many tourist areas and resorts such as Sun World Ba Na Hills, VinWonders Nam Hoi An, Nui Than Tai, Mikazuki Resort & Spa... are simultaneously launching their own promotions.

In particular, Sun World Ba Na Hills turns the Golden Bridge into a "brilliant symbol" with hundreds of national flags covering it, organizing the program "Beloved Vietnam - Our Fatherland is radiant with flags" combining revolutionary music and modern art shows. Tourists can also experience cable car route No. 8 to the "Kingdom of the Moon", enjoy Asian - European cuisine, "After Glow" and many street festivals. In addition, domestic tourists receive a discount of more than 40% on cable car tickets and buffet combos, helping to save money while still enriching their experiences.

Mr. Prabhakar Singh, Director of Sales and Marketing of Furama - Ariyana Danang International Tourism Complex, said that room occupancy rates increased sharply on September 2nd, and many accommodation and service packages were launched to meet demand. According to Booking.com, Danang continues to be in the group of domestic destinations most searched by Vietnamese tourists during the holiday, second only to Hanoi.

In Can Tho, Cantho Eco Resort (Nhon Ai commune) also renewed its products, adding many experiential activities throughout the holiday such as craft workshops, making cotton candy, interacting with animals, magic, comedy and art performances. The program "Celebrating National Day 2-9 - Celebrating the country in bloom" offers a 2-day 1-night combo priced from 2.29 million VND for 2 guests, including a visit to the countryside market, zoo, taking photos at the film studio and enjoying special cuisine.

Create new momentum

Mr. Pham Anh Vu, Deputy General Director of Viet Travel Company, assessed that domestic tourism is showing signs of a breakthrough thanks to the historic event. For Viet Travel Company alone, the total number of registered visitors to the tour is estimated to have increased by 15%, with domestic tours leading the way thanks to a series of events celebrating the National Day in Hanoi.

The domestic tourism picture has also improved at many travel companies such as Vietravel, Saigontourist Travel, Vietluxtour, BenThanh Tourist... Ms. Huynh Phan Phuong Hoang, Deputy General Director of Vietravel Tourism Company, informed that up to this point, the number of customers registering for tours to Hanoi and neighboring destinations on September 2 through the company has increased by 30% - 40% compared to the same period last year.

Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism industry is accelerating with a series of stimulus policies and international promotion; introducing many new attractive tourism products to realize the goal of welcoming 10 million international visitors, 50 million domestic visitors and achieving revenue of VND290,000 billion this year.

In Vung Tau ward and neighboring areas of the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, a series of unique cultural and artistic activities were organized, creating highlights on the occasion of National Day September 2. The highlight is the special art program taking place at 7:30 p.m. on September 2 at Thuy Van Square, broadcast live by television and connected to Nguyen Hue walking street and Binh Duong ward central park.

At the same time, the Thuy Van road renovation project will also be inaugurated, opening up a modern and convenient space for residents and tourists to enjoy and entertain. On the night of September 2, the sky of Bai Sau will be lit up with an artistic fireworks display to celebrate.

Before that, many art performances will take place in the wards and communes of Binh Gia, Ho Tram, Phu My, Ba Ria and Dat Do, contributing to spreading the festival atmosphere throughout the area with the expectation of attracting a large number of visitors.

Dr. Duong Duc Minh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Economic and Tourism Development Research, said that the September 2nd holiday, with its focus on the parade and march, is not only a national event, but also a strategic lever to help Vietnam create a new momentum for the tourism industry. When designed as a multi-layered experience journey, this event can stimulate international visitors, increase spending and distribute benefits to the community.

At a higher strategic level, prominent tourist cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang need to strategically position themselves to lead the Southeast Asian trend, through organizing international events, developing creative economies associated with heritage, high-quality public spaces, and ensuring safety.

Tour passengers increase, airfares cool down

According to the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, on August 23, airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Bamboo Airways are still selling a series of flights on domestic routes on the occasion of September 2, meeting the increasing travel needs of people.

On the busiest route in the country between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, airlines are offering the lowest price from 2.2 million VND/leg; the economy class ticket price ranges from 2.2 - 2.8 million VND/leg depending on the flight time, much lower than the range of 2.7 - 3.7 million VND/leg recorded in early August.

Airfares have cooled down after airlines added thousands of flights to meet the high demand from passengers. Aviation has accelerated amid the demand for travel during the September 2 holiday, with the capital Hanoi as tourists join in the atmosphere of the parade and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
