The information was announced by the General Statistics Office at the Press Conference to announce socio -economic statistics for the fourth quarter and 2023, held on December 29 in Hanoi.
The General Statistics Office also said that the GDP scale of our country's economy by the end of 2023 is estimated to reach about 10.22 million billion VND, equivalent to 430 billion USD.
GDP per capita in 2023 at current prices is estimated at 101.9 million VND/person, equivalent to 4,284 USD, an increase of 160 USD compared to 2022.
In the fourth quarter of 2023 alone, gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to increase by 6.72% over the same period last year, higher than the fourth quarter of the years 2020-2022.
The economic growth rate in the fourth quarter according to GSO tends to be positive, higher than the previous quarters of 2023, specifically the first quarter increased by 3.41%, the second quarter increased by 4.25%, and the third quarter increased by 5.47%.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, General Director of the General Statistics Office, in the total added value increase of the whole economy in 2023, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.83%, contributing 8.84%; the industry and construction sector increased by 3.74%, contributing 28.87%; the service sector increased by 6.82%, contributing 62.29%.
Regarding labor productivity, Ms. Huong informed that the labor productivity of the entire economy in 2023 is estimated to reach 199.3 million VND/worker, equivalent to 8,380 USD/worker/year, an increase of 274 USD compared to 2022.
The General Statistics Office also believes that in 2023, agricultural, forestry and fishery production will grow positively, continuing to maintain its role as a pillar of the economy.
While industrial production is facing many difficulties, the added value of the entire industry in 2023 is estimated to increase by 3.02% over the previous year.
Regarding service activities in 2023, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue for the whole year of 2023 is estimated at VND 6,231 trillion, an increase of 9.6% over the previous year.
International arrivals to Vietnam in 2023 will reach 12.6 million, 3.4 times higher than in 2022, far exceeding the target of 8 million international arrivals in 2023 but only 70% of 2019 - the year before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides, the number of Vietnamese people leaving the country reached 5 million, double that of last year.
For the stock market, as of December 15, the average trading value on the stock market reached VND 17,624 billion/session, down 12.6% compared to the average in 2022.
The average trading value on the bond market reached VND6,114 billion/session, down 20.4% over the same period last year.
Export turnover of goods in 2023 is estimated at 355.5 billion USD, down 4.4% over the previous year.
Meanwhile, the import turnover of goods in 2023 is estimated at 327.5 billion USD, down 8.9% over the previous year.
The trade balance of goods in 2023 is estimated to have a trade surplus of 28 billion USD, an increase of 16 billion USD compared to 2022.
The consumer price index (CPI) in 2023 increased by 3.25% over the previous year, achieving the target set by the National Assembly .
Gold price in 2023 increased by 4.16%, USD price increased by 1.86% compared to 2022./.
