Community-based disaster risk management training

(QBĐT) - During the working visit to Quang Binh, on May 28, the delegation of the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam attended a dam safety training course organized by the University of Water Resources in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment in Dong Son ward (Dong Hoi city).

The training course is one of the activities of the Vietnam-New Zealand project on dam safety implemented by the University of Water Resources in collaboration with organizations of the New Zealand Government . The project aims to reduce risks and impacts of dam incidents and improve capacity for disaster risk management and dam safety in Vietnam.

Experts from the University of Water Resources impart knowledge on dam safety at the training course.

Participating in the training course, trainees who are managers and technical staff operating dams in Dong Hoi City were presented by experts from the University of Water Resources and New Zealand, updating their knowledge on geological disasters; technical requirements for dam operation and maintenance, emergency response and disaster management; community-based disaster management, etc. At the same time, they discussed and proposed optimal solutions to handle situations to ensure dam safety.

The training course took place over 2 days, May 27 and 28.
