200-passenger cruise ship in Hau Giang still unsold after 4 auctions

Due to inefficient exploitation, Hau Giang province was forced to auction for lease, however, the 200-passenger tourist boat did not receive any interest from businesses.

On April 12, information from the People's Committee of Hau Giang province said that it had just agreed to allow the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue organizing auctions for renting tourist boats.

Previously, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism had organized the auction four times but no individuals or organizations participated. The reason is that the business situation of enterprises inside and outside the province is still facing many difficulties, and the number of tourists coming to Vi Thanh City is not much.

At the same time, the ability to connect cruise ships with tourist attractions in the city is not much due to few attractive destinations and no travel agencies operating in the area.

To continue auctioning in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism must spend more than 364 million VND to maintain, preserve and manage the cruise ship...

Xa No tourist boat is one of the tourism products that contributes to creating a highlight for Hau Giang tourism, bringing interesting experiences to visitors. The boat has a capacity of about 200 passengers, operating since the beginning of 2022, then had to stop operating for repairs at a cost of more than 5 billion VND.

In December 2023, the cruise ship was assigned to the Provincial Tourism Promotion Center to directly operate and exploit the ship. However, the exploitation was ineffective, if it operated, it would have to compensate for losses and be forced to lease it.
