The Naval Ship Montréal, commanded by Lieutenant Commander Travis Bain, along with officers and crew, will begin a five-day visit.
Welcoming the ship and crew at Saigon port were Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Shawn Steil and representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Vietnam Navy Command, the Department of Foreign Affairs - Ministry of National Defense and the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard.
During the visit, officers and sailors of the Montréal will pay courtesy visits to leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Military Region 7 Command, and Naval Region 2 Command; exchange and practice PASSEX, search and rescue with officers and soldiers of Naval Region 2.
On this occasion, the two sides also had friendly sports activities with students of the Naval Technical College; cultural exchanges with students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; visited museums, historical and cultural relics, scenic spots and many other community activities in Binh Duong province.
The Montreal Naval Ship arrived in Ho Chi Minh City for a friendly visit to Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries and defense cooperation between Canada and Vietnam. Thereby, building a close relationship between the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and the navies of Asia- Pacific countries, while promoting peace and security in the region.
