Vietnam's SM Green Taxi officially launched in Laos

According to a VNA reporter in Laos, on the morning of November 9 in the capital Vientiane, GSM Green & Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (Green & Smart Mobility) under VinFast Group officially launched the first electric taxi service in Laos under the brand Xanh SM.

This is the first foreign market to launch the "Go Green Global" strategy with the roadmap to become GSM's international pure electric transportation service provider, aiming to popularize the "green mobility" trend to the world .

According to GSM, from November 9, 2023, Vientiane residents and international visitors to Laos can easily book Green SM taxis through the Green SM Laos application on the App Store and Play Store like technology-based ride-hailing companies or can also rent a car directly on the street.

In the immediate future, Xanh SM Laos will use the VinFast VF 5 Plus model, painted in the brand's signature cyan color, operating in the capital Vientiane. The number of vehicles is expected to increase to 1,000 and expand to the famous tourist town of Vang Vieng (in Vientiane), as well as other provinces and cities such as Luang Prabang, Savannakhet, Champasak ... in the next stages.

In addition to providing high-quality transportation services, GSM also aims to popularize the electric vehicle experience in Laos through the development of a green mobility service ecosystem, including electric vehicle rental, package car booking, tourist car booking, personalized car booking... providing comprehensive solutions, promoting the trend of electric mobility to every citizen.

With plans to expand operations nationwide, Xanh SM is expected to create thousands of new jobs in Laos, opening up attractive career development opportunities for local people without requiring investment capital, optimizing income and being professionally trained. In particular, each Xanh SM Laos driver will be oriented to develop into a "green ambassador" directly connecting customers with the brand, contributing to enhancing the green - clean, environmental image of Lao tourism.

In his speech at the event, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vientiane City People's Council - Mr. Anouphap Tounalom said that in Laos, the trend of using electric vehicles is increasing, especially in big cities like Vientiane. He emphasized that the launch of the SM Green Taxi service in Laos is a commendable step, not only helping Lao people and tourists from now on have more quality means of transportation, but also actively contributing to environmental protection in Laos, helping the Lao Government to complete the national goal that by 2030, 30% of all vehicles in circulation will be electric vehicles.

According to Mr. Anouphap, in the context of Laos's economic difficulties, the launch of GSM in Laos not only helps create jobs and income for people, supporting Laos in overcoming economic difficulties, but is also very timely, when 2024 is not only the Lao Tourism Year but also the year Laos holds the rotating chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

He emphasized that the presence of GSM will not only stop at providing a green and smart mobility service, but will be the beginning of many other investment activities of large Vietnamese enterprises and economic groups in Laos in the future.
