Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Chanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment emphasized: “In recent times, due to the impact of many factors such as overexploitation, water pollution, climate change, etc., aquatic resources in many coastal areas and rivers have seriously declined. This not only affects the ecosystem but also directly impacts the lives and livelihoods of fishermen. Regenerating aquatic resources does not stop at releasing fish but also requires the cooperation of the whole society in protecting the water environment, strictly implementing regulations on aquatic exploitation and restricting, moving towards ending destructive fishing. Every small action such as not littering rivers and seas; using fishing gear appropriately and participating in monitoring and protecting natural aquatic areas will contribute significantly to the protection of aquatic resources”. Immediately after the launching ceremony, the delegates moved to the waters of Ran Trao Marine Ecosystem Protection Area (Van Hung Commune, Van Ninh District) to release more than 2.6 million aquatic species including: 1.14 million tiger prawns, 1.4 million clams, 10,000 snails, the rest are marine fish such as: sea bass, yellowfin pomfret, black grouper, pearl grouper, red snapper...

Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang - representative of the Center for Marine Life Conservation and Community Development (MCD) shared: “In the past time, MCD has had many activities to support the Van Hung Commune Community Group to develop a plan to protect aquatic resources at Ran Trao, organize training programs for the community group on aquatic resources assessment, planning activities, and skills to protect marine ecosystems... This activity of supporting fish fry will contribute to creating more livelihoods for members of the community group. Through the activity, MCD hopes that the fishing community will raise their sense of responsibility in reasonable exploitation, comply with legal regulations and actively participate in local co-management models. At the same time, with the fish fry released in the Ran Trao area - where the marine ecosystem is especially important, we are contributing to regenerating resources and protecting the natural balance of the ocean, creating sustainable livelihoods for the people".
It is known that since 1992, the agricultural sector has continuously coordinated with units, businesses and fishermen to carry out many releases of fishery resources on the occasion of the Traditional Day of the Fisheries Sector. Hundreds of millions of fishery species have been released to regenerate fishery resources in lagoons and bays in the province. This activity also contributes to promoting and raising awareness of the community and fishermen about protecting coastal fishery resources and biodiversity...
