To achieve the target of welcoming 40 million international visitors by 2024, the Thai government has planned to "restart the tourism industry" with 10 measures.
On September 13, the Thai government allowed Chinese and Kazakh visitors to enter the country without a visa from September 25 to February 29, 2024. This is one of 10 measures to promote and "restart" the Thai tourism industry, according to the Bangkok Post.
Other measures to be implemented in the coming time include implementing safe tourism solutions, making tourism promotional videos , and using images of famous actors and artists to promote Thailand as a "wonderful destination".

The Thai Prime Minister will also visit target countries to promote tourism and attract local people to the "Land of Golden Pagodas".
In addition, the government also plans to open new air routes to provinces with tourism potential. Building unique, high-quality products to serve tourists, organizing year-round tourism events, and developing world-class cultural festivals are also among these 10 measures.
Thailand's tourism industry aims to build its image as an "Asian entertainment hub", offering a series of special promotions to visitors through local travel companies.
The country will set up an online crisis management team to respond to and handle incidents affecting Thailand's tourism industry.
According to government spokesman Chai Wacharonke, the above measures aim to "restart" Thai tourism, creating momentum for economic recovery and development.
Thailand expects to welcome 28 million foreign tourists and generate 2.4 trillion baht ($67 billion) in tourism revenue this year, including 1.4 trillion baht ($39.1 billion) from international visitors and 1 trillion baht from domestic visitors.
Thailand's total tourism revenue in 2022 is 600 billion baht ($16.6 billion), as the country has to stop welcoming foreign tourists for several months due to Covid-19 restrictions.
"This year, tourism revenue is expected to be 80% of 2019 when tourism revenue peaked before the pandemic," said Mr. Chai.
