Lam Dong will be a health "charging station" for tourists

On the morning of May 30, in Da Lat city, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and Ho Chi Minh City National University organized the National Scientific Conference "Green Economy and Sustainable Development".

The workshop was attended by many domestic experts and scientists ; research institutes, universities, colleges and state management agencies in the province.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan said that Lam Dong is the leading province in terms of high-tech application area and has become a "bright spot" in high-tech agricultural production in the country, with many valuable agricultural product brands certified domestically and internationally. Tourism has become a key economic sector of the locality.

According to the Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, we are facing many global challenges, such as climate change, resource degradation, environmental pollution, urbanization pressure, non-traditional security... Requiring a transformation of the development model towards low emissions, resource saving, high technology application, renewable energy use, associated with circular economy and harmonious development of three pillars: economy-society-environment.

In the current period, the province identifies green economy, digital economy, and circular economy as key pillars, associated with growth model transformation, ecosystem protection, quality of life improvement, and building long-term competitive advantages. These are important strategic orientations and valuable opportunities to break through, transform, effectively utilize potentials and advantages, and promote sustainable development.

The workshop received 50 papers focusing on summarizing theoretical and practical issues in green economy research and sustainable development in Vietnam; contributing methodologies and policies for green economy development and sustainable development in Lam Dong province; proposing practical solutions to concretize the green growth policy of the Party and Government in the context of international integration and global climate change.

Delegates discussed and clarified the advantages, difficulties, bottlenecks and proposed solutions to strengthen the connection between the research and development sector and the science and technology market. At the same time, they proposed mechanisms and policies to support businesses in searching for and innovating technology, in order to improve the efficiency of technology transfer and shorten the gap between research and practice.

Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City National University, emphasized that we are facing a turning point: Vietnam is committed to achieving zero net emissions by 2050; the manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, urban and energy sectors are all entering a period of model transformation; the labor market also requires new skills and thinking about sustainable development.

In that context, scientific research results, especially from in-depth workshops, will become an indispensable basis for policy making, raising public awareness, guiding training and promoting action at all levels.

Many opinions also analyzed and clarified issues on high-tech agriculture associated with rural tourism; circular economy and economic space organization after the province's merger; application of technology, digital transformation and AI in green economic development; waste treatment as organic input for sustainable agriculture... And many contents related to environmental assessment, ecotourism development, Net Zero carbon, ESG - a set of international standards for assessing the effectiveness of sustainable development activities of small and medium enterprises... related to Lam Dong province in particular and the country in the new development period.

With advantages in natural conditions and service systems, Da Lat is a health "charging station" for tourists.

Many experts and scientists believe that the green economy of Lam Dong province is the crystallization of the advantages of natural conditions, natural resources, culture, history, etc. Promoting those advantages, Lam Dong will affirm its position in high-tech agriculture and tourism; will be a "supermarket" of green, clean agricultural products for the whole country and a beautiful destination, a "charging station" for health for tourists.
