Identifying the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses as a key task in the sustainable poverty reduction program, immediately after the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 102/CD-TTg, the Provincial Party Standing Committee established a provincial Steering Committee to urgently organize implementation with the motto: "The Party leads, the State manages, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations support, and the people are the masters". The spirit of "mutual love" and "Whoever has something to help" has spread widely throughout the localities in the province, creating a vibrant, practical, and effective emulation movement.

* Summary of some presentations at the Conference:
Vo Nhai overcame difficulties to reach the finish line ahead of schedule (Comrade Ha Thi Bich Hong, Secretary of Vo Nhai District Party Committee) With 15 administrative units, 9 main ethnic groups, a population of over 70,000 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 72.56%, the poverty rate of Vo Nhai district is still high (about 8.37% of poor households and 7.48% of near-poor households). According to statistics, Vo Nhai district has 783 temporary and dilapidated houses (accounting for nearly 50% of the total dilapidated houses in the province), of which 470 houses need to be rebuilt and 313 houses need to be repaired. In particular, nearly 60% of the houses are not eligible to receive financial support from the provincial Fatherland Front and the state budget. In addition, Vo Nhai also faced many difficulties when implementing the Program such as: the terrain is divided by highlands, difficult transportation; many households do not have enough land because they live on high hills, in river corridors, and in protective forests; many poor households are unable to pay for the costs; the heads of households are elderly, weak, and single, and are unable to build on their own. Some households live in mountainous areas where transportation is difficult and materials cannot be transported by motor vehicles. All construction materials such as bricks, stones, sand, and cement must be carried by human power, and in some places, they have to travel kilometers through the forest to reach the construction site. Identifying this as a particularly important political task, with the highest determination, Vo Nhai district has established a Steering Committee, established working groups (data, records, images, funding, land, etc.) to help the Steering Committee grasp and effectively direct each work content; organize regular progress review meetings; at the same time, step up propaganda and mobilize people to be proactive in solidifying their houses. To solve the difficulties in funding and lack of construction materials, the district organized 5 fundraising campaigns, through which it received support and assistance from many businesses, philanthropists, officials, party members, people and some localities in the province. Accordingly, the district received over 13 billion VND, hundreds of tons of construction materials of all kinds. In addition, the district also mobilized forces to contribute thousands of laborers... By April 10, 2025, 100% of poor and near-poor households living in temporary and dilapidated houses in Vo Nhai district have started construction and repair of houses. Completed ahead of the deadline assigned by the Provincial Steering Committee (April 30, 2025). |
The profound humanistic meaning of the project "Lovely home" (Ms. Vu Thi Van, Vice President/General Secretary of Thai Nguyen Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association) The “Loving Home” project is a creative application of the Prime Minister’s call for a program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. This is a humane, practical and effective initiative, focusing on supporting the construction of houses for poor and disadvantaged women, demonstrating concern and attention to the goal of progress and gender equality. The “Warm Home” project was implemented by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association from October 2024, with the goal of supporting the construction of 20-50 houses, each worth 100 million VND, for poor women's households and women in especially difficult circumstances. Up to now, the Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association has achieved remarkable results. Specifically, in phase 1, the Association has mobilized 2 billion VND from contributions from members, businesses, donors and the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Association community. Accordingly, the Association has completed supporting the construction of 10 "Warm Homes of Love" houses for 10 poor and disadvantaged women's households in Phu Luong, Phu Binh, Dong Hy and Vo Nhai districts. The houses are built to standards, ensuring safety and in accordance with local customs and practices. Instead of relying solely on funding from members, the Association has been creative in calling for the participation of businesses, philanthropists and businesswomen nationwide. In particular, to effectively implement the Project, the Association always creates consistency from policy to action, ensuring objectivity, fairness, publicity and transparency. Not only supporting house construction, the Association also accompanies households in developing livelihoods and stabilizing their lives - this is an important factor to ensure the sustainability of the Project. |
