Since saying goodbye to the ethnic people of Thai Nguyen province and the people of Viet Bac region and returning to Hanoi (in 1954) until the end of his life, President Ho Chi Minh returned many times to visit, encourage, and direct the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee to lead the people to build a new life. On January 1, 1964, the last time he visited Thai Nguyen, talking to 45,000 cadres and people at the Stadium, he advised: "... Our province has many very favorable conditions, all the people and cadres must strive to make Thai Nguyen one of the richest and most prosperous provinces in the North of our country...".
