This is an unmissable destination on trips back to the source and always attracts a large number of tourists, especially the young generation from all over the country.
On August 28, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed the decision to establish the Ministry of Transport and Public Works. His message: "Transportation is the lifeblood of the organization. Good transportation makes everything easy. Bad transportation makes everything stagnant" not only emphasizes the important role of the transport sector in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, but also serves as a reminder to generations of people working in transport. Following Uncle Ho's teachings, generations of cadres, workers and laborers in the transport sector of Vietnam in general and the South Central region in particular have always strived to make important contributions to the cause of national liberation, construction and defense of the Fatherland of our entire Party, people and army.
During the years of the resistance war against the US, the battle on the transport front was extremely fierce. The enemy used all measures and tricks, focusing on attacks in order to cut off our supply lines from the rear to the front. With the iron determination of "no bones or blood spared until the road is cleared" and the spirit of "if the enemy destroys one, we will do ten", the cadres, workers and laborers of the transport sector of Zone 5 endured all hardships and sacrifices day and night to preserve the routes. In this fierce, difficult and extremely brave battle, all forces fought steadfastly, intelligently and creatively in fighting the enemy, clearing bombs and mines, repairing roads, and promptly supporting the southern battlefield: "Living clinging to bridges and roads. Dying steadfastly and bravely".
The entrance to the memorial has two walls and two reliefs. |
In 2010, the Memorial Area for the Martyrs of Transport Sector 5 was inaugurated to commemorate the heroic fighting spirit of the martyrs and soldiers of the Transport Sector of the provinces in the (old) Region 5 who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
The memorial area is about 1,000 m2 wide, located on Mo Coi hill, Tra Son village, Song Tra commune, Hiep Duc district ( Quang Nam province) in a campus with many ornamental plants and fruit trees, creating a fresh, airy feeling. The memorial area is two triangular walls covered with light yellow granite, 4-6 m wide and 5-7 m high.
On the left wall is an image of the national flag, below is the line: "Memorial area for heroic martyrs of the Transport sector of Zone 5". Below the two walls are two reliefs simulating the image of soldiers of the Transport sector of Zone 5, clearly depicted by a bicycle, a shovel, a hoe, an axe, a ruler and a soldier holding a gun with the people of various ethnic groups in the spirit of opening the way.
Past the ceremony area is the stele house. The stele house was built very spacious, tall and airy in the style of four pillars, round columns, curved roofs at the four corners, gables are all decorated with sophisticated motifs, covered with fish scale tiles the color of shrimp bricks. Inside the stele house, standing right in the middle is a black granite block engraved with the words: "Forever grateful to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the cause of the Transport industry of Zone 5".
The memorial site for heroic martyrs of Transport Zone 5 is a meaningful project demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and thereby contributingto educating the revolutionary tradition and patriotism of the young generation.
