On September 18, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Association of the Elderly (NCT) coordinated with HelpAge International in Vietnam (HAI) to organize a visit and introduce the Intergenerational Self-Help Club (LTHTGN) model in Hung Dao village, Nga Thuy commune (Nga Son).

The Hung Dao Village Elderly Care Club was established in April 2022 and currently has 62 members. Since its establishment, the Club has maintained the following activities: Health care; increasing income; culture - arts; home care; raising awareness of rights and benefits; community support... In particular, the Club has coordinated with the Elderly Association and Nga Thuy Commune Health Station to organize 2 health check-ups/year for Club members and the elderly in the community; monthly health monitoring for 100% of members; well-maintained the activities of the physical education team, men's and women's volleyball team and folk dance team; volunteer home care team; helped 43 members borrow capital to develop the economy and increase income...

The Executive Committee of the Hung Dao Village Youth Union reported on the club's activities.

During the visit, delegates attended the monthly meeting of the Club; learned about the practical activities of the Club, met and learned from the experiences of the Club's Board of Directors, the Elderly Association and other local stakeholders. The delegates also visited the actual home care model for the elderly; the economic development model for the elderly.

It is known that the Hung Dao Village LTHTGN Club was established and implemented within the framework of the Project "Reducing income and health vulnerabilities of the elderly in Vietnam" (VIE071) funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan Social Development Fund entrusted by the World Bank. The project is implemented from 2021 to 2024 by HelpAge International (HAI) in cooperation with the Representative Boards of the Association of the Elderly in 6 provinces and cities: Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh , Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan. In Thanh Hoa province, the project is implemented to help the locality expand 30 LTHTGN Clubs, bringing direct benefits to over 1,500 people, most of whom are elderly and people in difficult circumstances.
