Memorial service and burial of the remains of martyrs who died at Tam Co cave

On the morning of November 8, at Tam Co cave, 20 Quyet Thang road (Thuong Trach commune, Quang Tri province), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province held a ceremony to pay their respects, pay their respects, and bury the remains of heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. General Secretary To Lam's family sent a wreath to pay their respects to the heroic martyrs.

Delegations from Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa provinces and Da Nang city offered incense and flowers to the AHLS at Tam Co cave.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of Quang Tri province were comrades: Nguyen Van Phuong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran Vu Khiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of the People's Committee, and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

On behalf of Da Nang City, there was comrade Le Ngoc Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee.

On the side of Thanh Hoa province, there was comrade Dau Thanh Tung, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

During the process of renovating the landscape of Tam Co cave, at the location of the old cave entrance that collapsed, from October 1, 2025 to October 15, 2025, the Martyr's Remains Collection Team 589 under the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command searched for and collected martyrs' remains at Tam Co cave.

Through DNA testing, 8 results matched the samples of martyrs' relatives. According to the wishes of the martyrs' families, the martyrs' remains, relics and DNA samples were buried in a common grave, built at the entrance of Tam Co cave to commemorate and pay tribute to the martyrs and educate about revolutionary traditions.

Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung respectfully offered incense to the heroic martyrs.

The eulogy at the ceremony emphasized: "More than half a century has passed since the fierce days of war, this place - Tam Co cave, Road 20 Quyet Thang - was once a part of the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail, the road carrying the bloodline of the nation, connecting the Northern rear with the Southern front. On that route, countless outstanding sons fell. On November 14, 1972, in the fierce rain of bombs, those twenty-year-old soldiers heroically sacrificed themselves to keep the traffic bloodline flowing to support the beloved South. The sacrifice of the AHLS is a heroic and tragic song, the pinnacle of courage, the most sacred proof of the truth "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom".

Today, Hang Tam Co is no longer a tragic battlefield, but has become a red address of gratitude, an immortal symbol of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism.

Before the heroic souls of the heroic martyrs, the delegates respectfully commemorated, paid tribute, offered incense and flowers to express their deep gratitude; at the same time, performed the burial ceremony of the remains of the heroic martyrs, demonstrating the traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the Vietnamese people and the sacred and deep affection for comrades and teammates who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and protection of the Fatherland.
