The “Summer Dream Concert” recently took place in the exhibition space of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum with the participation of 4 famous domestic and international artists: pianist Iulian Ochescu (Romania), violinist Trinh Minh Hien, cellist Bui Ha Mien, opera singer Ngo Huong Diep.

The program is an initiative of a group of friends who love music and painting, wishing to create a unique art space for the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts.

The event became more special when it was held in the exhibition space of the late painter Nguyen Cuong (1943-2014) with the theme "10 years of nostalgia".

To create an impressive dialogue between music and painting in the early summer days of Hanoi , 4 international and Vietnamese artists have chosen together repertoires with poetic ensembles like the name of the program.

According to violinist Trinh Minh Hien, the music repertoire of “Summer Dream Concert” was created by 4 artists with the criteria of being luxurious but close, including both international and Vietnamese works, arranged in order from classical to modern.

In “Summer Dream Concert”, Bui Ha Mien’s deep, warm cello is further enhanced by Iulian’s sometimes poignant, sometimes profound piano accompaniment through two duets “Polonaise de Concert, op 14” (D. Popper), “Ritual fire dance” (De. Falla).

Ngo Huong Diep was the only singer to join the concert with 3 classical artists. In the space of the art gallery and in harmony with the musical accompaniment of pianist Iulian Ochescu, Huong Diep's voice soared even more through the piece "Habanera" in the famous opera "Carmen" or the familiar melody of "O mio Babbino caro". In particular, both of them also performed the emotional Vietnamese song "Love you" and received enthusiastic response from the audience.

Romanian musical prodigy Pianist Iulian Ochescu was the thread running through the concert. He is familiar to Vietnamese classical music lovers as he often comes to Hanoi to perform and interact. This time back, Iulian Ochescu was very excited because the stage was not just any theater but an art gallery.

Iulian Ochescu said that this was also the first time he had collaborated with three Vietnamese classical artists in a concert, although he had previously performed separately with the three artists in many different programs. In the program, in addition to two solo performances “Waltz No.2” (Dmitri Shostakovich), “Johannes Brahms/Intermezzo and Ballade op. 118”, he also performed a duet and trio with three Vietnamese artists.

Cellist Bui Ha Mien and Iulian met through cellist Dinh Hoai Xuan. Bui Ha Mien said that Iulian had a special affection for Vietnam during her visits here to perform. Therefore, when she told me about the idea of doing the program, Iulian was very excited. "Iulian played Vietnamese songs very sweetly even though it was the first time he heard them and also expressed his desire to tour with us more to meet audiences from all over the country," Bui Ha Mien said.

Iulian Ochescu is considered a "musical prodigy" of Romania with many major international music awards.

Before the performance, Iulian Ochescu spent a lot of time discussing and practicing. For Iulian Ochescu, the three artists Trinh Minh Hien, Bui Ha Mien, and Ngo Huong Diep are all outstanding faces in terms of talent, not only possessing skillful techniques but also having their own style. There are almost no barriers or difficulties between them in the working process because they all share a strong passion for music and the dream of bringing music to the audience.
