May: More than 15 thousand businesses established with strong increase in capital

On June 6, the General Statistics Office announced that in May, the country recorded 15,100 newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of more than VND156.7 trillion and 98,100 employees.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises increased by 6.1%, registered capital increased by 16.6% and the number of employees increased significantly by 29.3%.

Thus, the average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the month reached 10.4 billion VND, an increase of 18% compared to the previous month and an increase of 9.9% compared to the same period last year. In addition to the number of newly established enterprises, the whole country also had more than 8,000 enterprises returning to operation, an increase of 18.8% compared to the same period in 2024, thereby showing the recovery of the economy .

In the first 5 months, the whole country had nearly 66,800 newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of 647.1 trillion VND and a total registered number of 453,900 employees. Accordingly, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first 5 months of this year was nearly 2,279.5 trillion VND, a sharp increase of 83.8% over the same period in 2024.

Notably, the economy recorded more than 45,000 enterprises returning to operation in 5 months, an increase of 32.2% over the same period in 2024. Thus, the total number of newly established and returning enterprises since the beginning of the year has reached more than 111,800, an increase of 11.3% over the same period in 2024.

By economic sector, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector had 627 newly registered enterprises, down 1.7% over the same period last year. The industry and construction sector had more than 15,200 enterprises, down 3.9%. The service sector had nearly 50,900 enterprises, up 2%.

In addition to positive signals, the number of enterprises withdrawing from the market remains high. In May, the whole market had 5,924 enterprises registering to temporarily suspend business, 6,535 enterprises temporarily suspended operations pending dissolution procedures and 1,909 enterprises completed dissolution procedures. In total, in 5 months, on average, more than 22,300 enterprises withdrew from the market per month.
