In the history of the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship, Vietnamese teams have never finished higher than 4th, but Thanh Thuy and her teammates made history by reaching the finals of the tournament.
But coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team wants to do more than that, even though their final opponent, Diamond Food (Thailand), is considered very strong, possessing 4 stars in the national team and legend Nootsara Tomkom.

As expected, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was overwhelmed from the very first minutes. Vietnam's attacks were neutralized by the solidity of the Thai team. Despite their best efforts, the host Vietnam still lost 21-25 in the first set.
It was only after coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet made tactical changes that the Vietnamese girls were able to regain control of the game. However, Thanh Thuy and her teammates still lost the second set, with a score of 17-25.
Just when it seemed like the match would end soon, a surprise happened at Vinh Phuc stadium. Thanh Thuy's scoring from behind the 3m line and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh's brilliance helped Vietnam win 25-20 in the 3rd set.
Continuing the excitement, the Vietnamese girls continued to win 25-22 emotionally in the 4th set. Entering the deciding set, the Vietnamese team established a 5-point gap before Lam Oanh and Tran Tu Linh combined to make a smash, setting the score at 15-10.
With a 3-2 victory (21-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-10) in the final, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team made history by winning the 2023 Asian Women's Club Championship for the first time, and also qualified for the World Championship, which will take place in China later this year.
