Establishment of a Nursing Home for Artists

The Artist Retirement Area will help facilitate the reception and care of artists in various fields who have made many contributions to the arts and are facing difficulties in accommodation. In the city, there is currently the Ho Chi Minh City Artist Retirement Area, built in 1996, located on Au Duong Lan Street, District 8 - currently home to 7 veteran artists: Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien, artists Le Tham, Ngoc Dan, Hoa Tranh, Ngoc Be, Lam Son and stage worker Dang Thi Xuan.

The Ho Chi Minh City Artist Retirement Center is currently in disrepair and needs to be rebuilt. Currently, many senior artists need a place to live and be cared for in their old age. A typical example is artist Mac Can, who is old and weak and is renting a house. He really needs to be brought to the City Artist Retirement Center to have a better life in his old age.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has also directed relevant departments and branches to conduct surveys and propose appropriate solutions for the construction and expansion of the Artist Retirement Area in District 8 (as the late People's Artist Phung Ha wished). Meritorious Artist Le Thien once proposed that in addition to building a residential area for artists, this land should also be used to build a cultural and artistic space to organize exchanges, activities, performances, and discussions on theater; a place for young people to come and learn about the literature and art of the city and the country.

Previously, in early March, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association transferred 7 veteran artists from the Ho Chi Minh City Artists Nursing Home to live at the Thi Nghe Nursing Center. There are 10 rooms, one for each person, with a private bathroom. In addition to standard meals, there are also medical staff to monitor their health every day.
