The steering group is headed by Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh and Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy as deputy head.

The Steering Committee is responsible for directing and urging agencies and units to implement Resolution No. 172/2024/QH15 of the 15th National Assembly on investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project; implementing specific and special mechanisms and policies decided by the National Assembly, the Government, and the Prime Minister to apply to the project; directing and urging agencies and units under the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with agencies and units under other ministries, branches, and localities in resolving important issues related to project implementation.

The team also has the responsibility to promptly report difficulties, problems, and inadequacies arising in practice related to the project implementation process and propose and recommend solutions to competent authorities.

In addition to the steering group, the Ministry of Transport also decided to establish 4 working groups to assist the steering group, including: project implementation; human resource training and development; industrial development and technology transfer; development of science , technology and regulations and standards applicable to the project.

North-South high-speed railway: Symbol of innovation spirit On the afternoon of November 30, 443/454 (92.48%) of National Assembly delegates voted to approve the Resolution on investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project.
