Thanh Nha returns, many young faces join the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship

(NLDO) - Two days before the 2025 ASEAN Women's Cup, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the list of Vietnamese women's team participating in the tournament.

On the afternoon of August 4, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's team announced the official list of players participating in the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship, notably the return of midfielder Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha after a long absence due to injury.

Thanh Nha's return promises to strengthen the team's attack, alongside familiar pillars such as Huynh Nhu, Hai Yen, Bich Thuy, Tuyet Dung, Chuong Thi Kieu and Hoang Thi Loan.

Coach Mai Duc Chung and his colleagues also boldly gave opportunities to many promising young faces such as Nguyen Thi Truc Huong and Tran Thi Thu Xuan (TKSVN), bringing a new breeze to the journey to conquer the regional arena.

Historically, the Vietnamese women's team has won the Southeast Asian women's tournament three times, most recently in 2019.

In the 2022 season, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team had to stop in the semi-finals after losing to the Philippines and continued to lose to Myanmar in the third-place match.

With a combination of experience and youth, the Vietnamese women's team is determined to achieve positive results in this year's tournament.

According to the draw results of the tournament, the Vietnamese women's team is in group A with Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia.

The opening match of the Vietnamese women's team will take place at 7:30 p.m. on August 6 against Cambodia at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ).

Meanwhile, Group B including Australia, Philippines, Myanmar and Timor Leste will start from August 7 at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ).
