Youth expect comprehensive development environment in the new era

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Tuong Lam said that the 13th National Youth Union Congress is the most important political event and the Congress documents are the compass to determine the goals and solutions for the Youth Union's work and the youth and children's movement in the coming period. The draft document was built scientifically and seriously, closely following the spirit of the draft document of the 14th Party Congress and the instructions of General Secretary To Lam. However, in order for the document to truly "stick to real life", there needs to be extensive participation and comments from young people themselves. This is the reason why the Central Youth Union organized the conference, aiming to mobilize enthusiastic opinions and practical concerns to complete the document before the Congress takes place, scheduled for June 2026.

"The Pioneer Youth Movement in the New Era has been selected with five pioneering groups. Pioneers in learning, developing science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; this is how we concretize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW. Pioneers in competing to get rich legitimately, developing the country's economy ; pioneers in international integration, to concretize Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration; pioneers in volunteering for the community; pioneers in participating in protecting the Fatherland, associated with the goal of rapid and sustainable development of the country, firmly protecting the Fatherland", the President of the Vietnam Youth Union emphasized.

Giving opinions on the development of indicators related to the field of science, technology and innovation among youth, Dr. Nguyen Viet Hai (University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hanoi National University) suggested that it is necessary to adjust to specify the indicators towards creating products of real value; it is necessary to specify the number of 100,000 youth projects at all levels participating in the development, application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation to serve the community and at least 80% of youth and children complete programs to improve digital capacity, AI skills and use of science and technology organized by the Youth Union, Association and Team. Specifying indicators on digital transformation and youth innovation will help the Youth Union's work accurately reflect the development trend of the country in the era of Industry 4.0 and knowledge economy.

According to Dr. Nguyen Viet Hai, in order for the Youth Union to truly lead the young generation in the era of innovation and creativity, it is necessary to further concretize the building of digital and creative capacity for young people; create a real learning, experimenting and entrepreneurial environment; and arouse the pioneering spirit and digital citizenship responsibility in each member. That is the new mission of Vietnamese youth in the era of digital transformation and global integration.

Regarding the application of technology to take care of people's health, Master, Doctor Ha Thi Huong Giang (Hanoi Young Physicians Association) assessed that the draft emphasized the spirit: Youth pioneering in digital transformation and innovation; clearly mentioned the requirement to improve the health, physical and mental health of youth and children; determined the role of young intellectuals, young physicians, and young scientists in national development.

Master, Doctor Ha Thi Huong Giang suggested that it is necessary to build a national network of young doctors with a unified mechanism; increase the connection between the Youth Union - Association of Young Doctors - hospitals; have a program to foster medical ethics - skills for young doctors and make the content "Young medical professionals take the lead in taking care of people's health" a specific item in the document. It is necessary to build a force of "Young Digital Doctors", build a "Digital Health Science Database" for young people. Young doctors will be the core force in protecting people's health, so Doctor Huong Giang hopes that the 13th Congress documents will continue to ignite the aspirations of young Vietnamese doctors to contribute.

Sharing his perspective on youth entrepreneurship, Mr. Ho Hoang Hieu (2023 Luong Dinh Cua Award) proposed building a library of experience and economic models for youth entrepreneurship that acts as an open knowledge repository serving the entire population, especially the youth seeking career opportunities; making the school toilet pollution treatment model a key program for widespread application nationwide; bringing green education - green entrepreneurship into schools.

Opinions at the conference showed the great expectations of young people for a Congress document that truly keeps pace with new development trends, from digital transformation, youth innovation to community health care and green startups. The proposals all aim to build an environment for young people to study, contribute and mature comprehensively, thereby contributing to affirming the pioneering role of Vietnamese youth in the new era.
