Ho Chi Minh City aims to become an international megacity in the digital age

At the program, delegates were introduced to the Development Strategy and Space of Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045; Key projects and strategies in the development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City.

In particular, the program devoted time for delegates to discuss cooperation initiatives for Ho Chi Minh City in building an international megacity in the digital age. At the program, the Organizing Committee announced cooperation activities between Vietnamese departments, branches, sectors, and enterprises with partners.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed General Secretary To Lam 's respectful greetings, warm regards, and best wishes to the Forum.

The Prime Minister emphasized the motto of “listening and understanding together”, “sharing vision and action together”, “working together, enjoying together, winning together and developing together”; stating that the opinions contributed at the Forum have created motivation and inspiration for Vietnam to continue the very difficult but “must-do” work to achieve the two 100-year strategic goals. Therefore, this year Vietnam determined to achieve an economic growth rate of over 8%, and in the following years it must reach double digits. Therefore, if there is support from the international community, Vietnam will certainly succeed, “turning the impossible into possible”.

The Prime Minister pointed out that in the current world context, economic growth is slowing down, the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic are still present; public debt is increasing, global trade is facing difficulties due to tariff policies, multilateralism is being threatened; thereby affecting the supply chain, reducing people's income.

Vietnam consistently focuses on building three fundamental elements: Building a socialist-oriented market economy, promoting international integration; building socialist democracy; building a socialist rule-of-law state; throughout this process, Vietnam takes people as the center, the subject, the goal, the driving force and the most important resource of development; not sacrificing progress, social justice, social security and the environment to pursue mere economic growth.

Vietnam is implementing three strategic breakthroughs: open policies, smooth infrastructure, and smart management. At the same time, there is regulation between the three strategic breakthroughs, in which the methods must be popular, according to international standards, and in line with the general development of the world.

The Prime Minister emphasized the spirit of solidarity, promoting cooperation to enhance strength, and dialogue to strengthen trust. Currently, the world's problems are global, all-people and comprehensive, so no single country, even a powerful one, can solve them on its own. Therefore, the world needs to strengthen solidarity and promote multilateralism.

Regarding Ho Chi Minh City, the Prime Minister stated that in the current period, to develop, capital is needed; noting that in this process, the City needs open policies, smooth infrastructure, and smart management; in which the human factor is the decisive factor. Ho Chi Minh City must be self-reliant, self-reliant, and develop from the hands, minds, sky, and sea, but it cannot lack the support and assistance of international friends.

“Constructive State, pioneering enterprises, public and private sectors working together, Ho Chi Minh City develops, people are happy, businessmen enjoy”; implementing the principle of harmonious benefits and shared risks.

The Prime Minister believes that in the new context, Ho Chi Minh City will innovate, be self-reliant, know how to do things, and learn better lessons to develop the City into a true locomotive, capable of competing with major cities in the world; and hopes that international organizations, corporations, and investors will always accompany and stand by Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City with the spirit of valuing intelligence, saving time, and making timely decisions; working together, winning together, developing together, bringing benefits to all parties, contributing to the common development of humanity.
